Overview

At the heart of the Optimum are three Ohno Continuous Cast (OCC) silver-plated copper conductors, with each conductor strand in a square configuration for tighter bundling. OCC offers a significantly higher level of purity with exceptional electrical conductivity, improved flexibility, and resistance to fatigue and corrosion.

A high-quality FEP provides a very low dielectric constant over a wide frequency range. The three conductors receive a slight rotational twist to facilitate RFI and EMI rejection, and are then surrounded by cotton padding which provides internal resistance and reduces microphonics. The entire construction is enclosed in a Mylar envelope to provide an additional dielectric buffer, before applying an active OFC shield for maximum high frequency interference rejection. A durable PVC outer jacket provides a high degree of flexibility and mechanical strength.

Conductors: The 3.0 mm² silver-plated Ohno Continuous Cast copper conductors offer a significantly higher level of purity than traditional OFC. Each conductor strand is in an innovative square configuration. The geometry and metallurgy used in this construction offer superb performance with extremely impressive electrical conductivity.

Dielectric: The Teflon FEP dielectric (insulation) is chemically inert and has a very low dielectric constant over a wide frequency range. FEP has a very high degree of resistance to stress cracking and a low coefficient of friction, making it an exceptional dielectric. FEP is the first choice for safety in terms of temperature and electrical insulation.

Filler: Cotton padding has been used to give the cable internal resistance and reduce microphonics. Cotton also has excellent dielectric properties, the best of any solid material.

Envelope: A Mylar envelope is used to secure the construction and provide a protective barrier before applying a flexible PVC jacket. The addition of Mylar and cotton forms a buffer with the PVC to maintain exceptional dielectric properties.

Shielding: A grounded OFC shield ensures maximum RFI rejection, thus preventing common mode noise from affecting the live and neutral conductors.

Jacket: PVC is used as the outer jacket to provide a high degree of flexibility and mechanical strength.
