With audio connections between individual devices, the capacitance of the cables plays a key role. Since signal sources have very low levels and are rather sensitive to high cable capacitances, audio cables are perfect candidates for air insulation using Air Helix technology. For the Referenz NF-1204 Air, we developed an entirely new and completely solder-free RCA connector design. It includes several pieces that are only assembled during the manufacturing process. First, just like with the speaker cable, the ultra-pure copper wires of the Cross Link Super Speed waveguide are mechanically stripped of their thin lacquer layer; then, the tellurium-copper connector pin is crimped onto the wire at a pressure of 1.5 tons. Another innovation is the shield bonding, which is hermetically sealed using a screw.
