Welcome to the wonderful world of high-end audio, where passion for music and the pursuit of excellence converge. In this article, we will introduce you to the Cabasse Murano, the smallest of the passive speakers with coaxial technology, carefully designed and assembled in workshops in France. With its luxurious design and remarkable sound performance, the Cabasse Murano stands out among the best speakers on the market.
At the heart of the Cabasse Murano is its BC13 Coaxial Tweeter-Midrange, a triaxial speaker that already equipped the La Sphère and L’Océan reference systems. Designed and controlled in French workshops, the BC13 guarantees timbre fidelity without artifice or listening fatigue. Its aluminum waveguide, specifically designed to work with the Murano’s woofer, offers unparalleled depth and realism of the sound image.
The new 17ND36 woofer, specially designed for the Cabasse Murano, pushes the limits of audio technology. In order to achieve deep and fast bass despite a small enclosure volume, the engineers miniaturized the concept of the Sphère’s 55 cm woofer.
The concave membrane with a honeycomb structure gives the speaker exceptional rigidity and excellent damping. This choice allows for large excursions without deformation, thus offering crystal-clear and solid sound. Guided by a long coil plunging into the 45 mm gap of an oversized motor weighing four kilograms, the Murano’s woofer achieves unparalleled precision and depth.
Cabasse never compromises on the quality and precision of its speakers. The anechoic chamber measurement protocol developed by Cabasse takes into account on-axis and 360° measurements, ensuring perfect control of directivity and total radiated power. This technology, known as HDSE (Homogeneous Distribution of the Sonic Energy), guarantees a homogeneous distribution of direct and reflected sounds, offering a wide and stable soundstage.

Why did it take me so long to move to the Murano? Even though I clearly saw their immense qualities as soon as they came out. Pretty exceptional speakers, and gorgeous in mahogany. Huge potential if you move up the range in amplification. Superb piano reproduction, tight and surprising bass. Used with a Denon PMA110, it’s pure bliss!

I wanted to replace my B&W Formation Duo active speakers and go back to a passive/active setup to allow for future upgrades.
Mission accomplished with these Muranos, which aren’t this year’s model but deliver a level of precision across the entire spectrum that’s on another level compared to the B&Ws.
They’re brand new and paired with the Cabasse Abyss amp, so they still need some time, but it’s already very good.
To be continued, and maybe I’ll move to a higher-tier amp.
A purchase with no regrets.
