The Piega Premium 501 Wireless Gen2 speakers are high-end floorstanding speakers with integrated wireless connectivity. They are manufactured by the Swiss brand Piega, renowned for the quality of its audio products. The main evolution compared to the first generation lies in the adoption of a sealed enclosure, replacing the previous bass-reflex port. This change improves transient response and bass precision, while offering greater flexibility in room placement.

Design and Construction

The Premium 501 Wireless Gen2 speaker features a brushed aluminum cabinet, also available in black or white lacquered finishes for an additional cost. This material, favored by Piega, offers both aesthetic and acoustic advantages. Standing about one meter tall, with a width of 16 cm and a depth of 21 cm, this floorstanding speaker has a slender silhouette that blends harmoniously into any interior.

Components and Amplification

The Piega Premium 501 Wireless Gen2 is a 3-way speaker that combines a ribbon tweeter, a midrange driver, and four bass drivers:

• The “Linear Drive Ribbon” (LDR) ribbon tweeter, designed and manufactured in Switzerland by Piega, is featured across the entire Premium Wireless Gen2 range. It is known for its great finesse and excellent dynamics.
• The 12 cm midrange driver uses Piega’s proprietary MDS (Magnetic Drive System) technology. It delivers balanced and detailed reproduction of midrange frequencies.
• The four 12 cm bass drivers, also using MDS, take over from the previous bass-reflex port to provide deep and precise bass.

Each section (bass, midrange, treble) is powered by its own amplifier, for a total rated output of 180 watts. A DSP processor ensures optimal tuning and protects the drivers from overload.

Sound Performance

The Piega Premium 501 Wireless Gen2 delivers an extremely balanced sound, with a beautiful presence in the midrange and great resolution finesse. The soundstage is wide and precise, with excellent source focus.

The bass is both deep and perfectly defined, with no lag or unwanted resonance thanks to the sealed enclosure. The midrange is highly neutral, with particularly natural and expressive vocals. The treble is very subtle, with no harshness or sibilance.

Dynamics are impressive, with remarkable responsiveness on transients and a strong sense of energy on fortes. The 180 W power output easily fills medium-sized rooms.

With the PIEGA Control app for Android and iOS, you can get the most out of your PIEGA wireless speakers. The easy-to-use built-in room calibration lets you fine-tune your speakers’ sound quality, while the integrated equalizer allows you to adjust and find the perfect setting according to your preferences. TV settings offer additional, easily configurable options for your TV setup.

Centralized Connectivity via the Piega Connect Plus Hub

Like other models in the Premium Wireless Gen2 range, the Piega 501 relies entirely on an external hub, the optional Piega Connect Plus, which centralizes all connectivity and compatibility with your connected environment. This module then transmits the audio signal wirelessly to the speakers, via an uncompressed digital link up to 24 bits / 96 kHz. Only a power cable needs to be connected to each speaker.
