Zidoo Z3000 Pro Media Player
The Zidoo Z3000 Pro is a cutting-edge media player designed to enhance your home entertainment experience. Equipped with advanced features and powerful hardware, this device offers smooth operation, exceptional video and audio quality, and extensive compatibility with various formats.
A Concentration of the Latest Video and Audio Technologies
The Z3000 Pro is powered by a next-generation Amlogic S928X-K processor, a 64-bit penta-core System on Chip (SoC) consisting of one ARM Cortex-A76 core and four ARM Cortex-A55 cores. This powerful and versatile chip, combined with 8 GB of DDR4 RAM and 64 GB of eMMC storage, ensures smooth system operation even with numerous installed applications.
On the video side, the Z3000 Pro supports content playback up to Ultra HD 8K at 60 frames per second. It is compatible with the main HDR (High Dynamic Range) formats on the market: HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, and Dolby Vision. Thanks to its HDMI 2.1 output, it can deliver 8K images point-to-point, with a 12-bit color depth and an extended BT.2020 color space. Zidoo’s proprietary VS10 video engine optimizes image quality by intelligently mapping different video modes.
The handling of static (MaxFall, MaxCll) and dynamic (HDR10+) HDR metadata is particularly meticulous. It allows for displaying images with higher brightness, deeper blacks, and colors true to the filmmakers’ intentions, frame by frame. Automatic frame rate switching at 23.976 Hz and resolution ensures smooth movie playback, whether from local files or streaming.
On the audio front, the Z3000 Pro manages pass-through of Dolby Atmos and DTS:X object formats. It supports lossless playback of high-resolution files such as DSD (SACD ISO, DSF, DFF), WAV, APE, and DTS. The new Music Player 8.0 offers a redesigned interface, personalized settings, and track metadata matching.
Comprehensive Connectivity for Easy Integration
The Zidoo Z3000 Pro boasts particularly rich connectivity to integrate into any home theater environment. Its main originality is the presence of two separate HDMI outputs to split video and audio streams. This allows enjoying 4K videos and HD sound simultaneously without having to upgrade your audio-video amplifier.
It also features optical and coaxial digital audio outputs, as well as an analog RCA stereo output. Three USB ports (two 3.0, one 2.0) are available to connect storage devices or accessories. A Gigabit Ethernet port and a dual-band 2.4/5 GHz MIMO ax (Wi-Fi 6) module offer fast and stable wired or wireless network connectivity.
The Z3000 Pro is equipped with an infrared receiver and an RS232 port for easy integration into a home automation setup. It is compatible with control protocols like HDMI CEC and Control4. The provided remote control operates via infrared and Bluetooth for optimal control.
A Brushed Aluminum Chassis with Hard Drive Bay
The Zidoo Z3000 Pro media player stands out with its high-quality brushed aluminum casing, giving it an elegant look and unmatched durability. Its front panel features a large LED display for clear feedback.
But the most notable feature of the chassis is the presence of a patented 3.5” SATA hard drive bay by Zidoo. Hidden within the case, it allows for the insertion of a hard drive with a capacity of up to 16 TB to store your multimedia library. A SATA cable is included in the box.
The Z3000 Pro incorporates a high-quality switching power supply with metal shielding to reduce electromagnetic interference, thus preserving audio and video quality. The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth antennas are also hidden within the chassis for a sleek aesthetic.
A comprehensive and user-friendly software based on Android
The Zidoo Z3000 Pro runs on Android 11, an open and versatile operating system that provides access to numerous applications. The user interface has been redesigned to be more intuitive and responsive.
Zidoo has developed in-house applications to make the most of the hardware. The new “Poster Wall 4.0” allows for advanced management of your movie library with custom rankings, trailers, and smooth navigation. The music player 8.0 has been redesigned with improved ergonomics.
The Z3000 Pro supports Blu-ray and UHD Blu-ray menu playback, as well as seamless playback of Blu-rays with a complex MPLS structure. It also handles special effects subtitles and automatic subtitle downloads from the Internet. Zidoo is the only manufacturer to offer forced subtitles for both Blu-ray and MKV files.
Many network services and protocols are supported, such as DLNA, Tidal Connect, NFS, SMB v1/v2/v3, UPnP, and WebDAV. An SMB server is even integrated.
A dedicated mobile app for total control
In addition to the traditional remote control, the Zidoo Z3000 Pro can be fully operated from a smartphone or tablet using the free “Zidoo Controller” app, available on iOS and Android. This app has been specially designed by Zidoo engineers for smooth player control.
The app’s interface automatically adapts to the mobile’s orientation, including landscape mode on iPads and Android tablets. In addition to playback controls and settings, it allows you to browse your music and video library intuitively. Integrated streaming services are also accessible from the app.
In summary, the Zidoo Z3000 Pro media player positions itself as a high-end reference for home theater and music enthusiasts. Among its main strengths, we can highlight:
- Support for 8K HDR video and the latest audio formats
- Advanced VS10 video engine and optimized HDR processing

Happy with my Zidoo Z1000PRO, I moved on to the Z3000Pro to keep up with the evolution of my HDMI chain, which went 4K with a new TV. And then it was a cold shower! This box nearly went out the window several times! The change of main component from Realtek to AMLogic, and in particular the S928X, is not going smoothly: this piece of junk is incapable of playing an MKV file without cutting out for 5 to 6 seconds, and that happens several times during a single movie! In 2025, that’s a far cry from comfortable for a living-room player! It doesn’t matter how long the movie or episode is. It doesn’t matter whether it’s 4K or not, DV or not. Nothing helps, you can be sure that at some point you’ll get at least one black hole on the screen. And don’t you dare try anything during the blackout: a pause or a rewind just makes it worse! The picture doesn’t come back and sometimes the Zidoo just reboots! And when, after 6 seconds, it comes back as if nothing had happened, you have to rewind to catch what you missed (because of course the movie keeps playing, otherwise it wouldn’t be “fun”…)
God knows I’ve spent an incredible amount of time testing all kinds of parameter combinations and updates (even beta ones). Reading up on the rich international AV forums to try to understand what was going on. Developing test protocols on several files in different formats, different versions. Watching and re-watching, etc. Only to reach the conclusion that the AMLogic video pipeline is faulty, unstable, and immature! Which is clearly causing internal bugs in the video engine. To gain a bit of stability, I’m forced to lock the resolution in advance depending on the movie I want to watch, because if I let the Zidoo choose, it renegotiates the HDMI handshake right in the middle of playback! I can tell you this box is not exactly shining in my HDMI chain.

This product is a success in terms of hardware as well as the interface, but unfortunately the media player function itself is far from excellent in 4K (choppy video in Dolby Vision, even with Blu-ray rips, audio-video desynchronization with certain audio formats, and the list goes on). The firmware is not fully developed; updates that are supposed to fix issues sometimes make them even worse. In short, the developers are really behind! I have only one piece of advice: follow the progress of the update quality on the Zidoo forum, and if one day the feedback from forum members is positive, then you can go ahead and buy it.

Unlit remote control. Not practical with a projector in the dark.
No sound sometimes when playing a video. You have to turn the device off and on again to fix the problem.
Wired setup (Ethernet) is very complicated during the first use. Some external sources (APK) are incompatible, notably the Google Play Store.
Significant latency time to start playing a video file. No home page at startup. The QR code for the app appears at every startup.
No button on the remote control to directly access the main menu. Not worth its price. 3 to 4 times more expensive than the Apple TV and Nvidia Shield TV for lesser performance.
The only positive points are the slot for the hard drive, the digital screen, and the fast forward feature. I regret this purchase. As a result, I use the INFUSE app on my Apple TV 4K more often.
