Rega Nd3 Moving Magnet (MM) Phono Cartridge

Each Nd3 cartridge is meticulously handcrafted by Rega’s highly skilled technicians. The stylus diamond is a high-quality elliptical profile made from polycrystalline diamond, bonded to a round titanium rod.

The Nd3 design uses an entirely new generator geometry with perfect symmetry to achieve precise left and right channel balance. The cartridge also features optimized pole spacing for superior linearity and crosstalk characteristics, resulting in a much wider soundstage than previous Rega models.

Compatibility and Installation

The Rega Nd3 is compatible with most tonearms and MM phono preamps. Its output level of 5.5 mV at 1 kHz is standard for this type of cartridge.

Weighing 7.2 grams, it suits medium to high mass tonearms. The recommended tracking force is 1.75 grams, with a range from 1.5 to 2 grams.

The cartridge mounts easily with its 3-point fixing system. Simply screw it onto the tonearm shell, ensuring proper alignment. A removable stylus guard is provided to prevent damage during handling.

Nd Magnet Technology

Often used in moving coil (MC) cartridges, including those by Rega, neodymium magnets are employed for the first time by Rega in a moving magnet cartridge with the Nd3.

The N55 neodymium is the most powerful magnet available commercially. It is a crucial component that makes this unique design possible by delivering extra power compared to traditional bar magnet designs.

Glass-Loaded PPS Body

The entire assembly is housed in a glass-loaded polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) body, injection molded with zero tolerance. PPS is a lightweight and extremely rigid material.

A low-mass body reduces stress on the tonearm bearings and facilitates free movement, which is essential for accurate groove tracking. This new body design was inspired by Rega’s highly successful MC range.
