The Klipsch SPL-100 is an active subwoofer designed to deliver an immersive sound experience, suitable for both music and home theater. With a balanced blend of power and precision, it also complements your interior with its sleek and refined design. An appealing option for sound enthusiasts seeking a high-performance solution.
The SPL-100 stands out with its power, delivering 200W RMS and up to 450W peak. This capability allows it to produce deep, impactful bass that can make your room vibrate during intense action scenes or dynamic musical passages. Despite its considerable power, the SPL-100 maintains relatively compact dimensions (356 x 421 x 451 mm), making it easy to integrate into various living spaces.
At the heart of the SPL-100 is a 25 cm (10-inch) woofer featuring a Cerametallic cone, a proprietary Klipsch technology. This composite material, combining lightness and rigidity, ensures precise reproduction of low frequencies while minimizing distortion. The result is clear, defined, and responsive sound, capable of capturing the subtlest nuances of bass, whether for music or cinematic sound effects.
The SPL-100 employs a bass-reflex design with a front-firing port, a configuration that optimizes efficiency and low-frequency extension. This approach allows the subwoofer to reach down to 27 Hz, delivering extended frequency response for deep, enveloping bass. The front-firing port also provides greater placement flexibility, reducing the risk of unwanted resonances when positioned near a wall.
To power its woofer, the SPL-100 is equipped with a Class D amplifier with an analog preamp. This combination ensures high energy efficiency while preserving sound quality. The Class D amplifier also maintains consistent performance, even during prolonged use at high volumes, without excessive overheating.
The SPL-100 offers a full range of controls to finely tune its performance to your system and room. The variable low-pass filter (40-120 Hz) allows you to match the subwoofer’s response to your main speakers, ensuring a seamless transition. The phase control (0-180°) helps synchronize the subwoofer with your other speakers, optimizing sound coherence. These adjustments, along with volume control, enable the SPL-100 to integrate perfectly into virtually any audio system.
The SPL-100 features stereo RCA and LFE (Low Frequency Effects) inputs, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of amplifiers and AV receivers. Additionally, it includes a port for the optional WA-2 wireless receiver, allowing for wireless installation if desired. This flexible connectivity makes it easy to incorporate the SPL-100 into various audio setups, from simple stereo systems to complex home theater installations.
True to Klipsch’s reputation for design, the SPL-100 boasts an aesthetic that is both elegant and functional. Its robust MDF cabinet is covered in a scratch-resistant textured black vinyl, giving it a premium look while ensuring durability. The removable grille, made of acoustically transparent fabric, protects the woofer while maintaining sound performance. Vibration-absorbing rubber feet complete the design, effectively isolating the subwoofer from the floor to minimize unwanted resonances.
Whether enhancing your cinematic experience with impressive low-frequency effects or adding depth and impact to your favorite music, the SPL-100 excels in both areas. Its ability to produce bass that is both powerful and nuanced makes it a versatile choice, capable of satisfying action movie fans and discerning audiophiles alike.
The SPL-100 is designed to perform effectively in medium-sized rooms, typically between 20 and 40 m². However, its performance may vary depending on the room’s acoustics and the desired listening volume.
Absolutely. Using multiple subwoofers can improve the distribution of low frequencies in the room and increase overall sound pressure. Just make sure to calibrate them properly for a balanced response.
Yes, thanks to its precision and responsiveness, the SPL-100 performs well even at low volumes. Its Class D amplifier and Cerametallic woofer allow it to reproduce detailed and nuanced bass, even during quiet listening sessions.

Very good bass. Doesn't boom. Calibration is necessary. Upgrade from the R-12SW. The SPL-100 is noticeably better. I haven't regretted it. Excellent 👍🏼
