The W4100i uses DLP technology with wobulation to achieve 4K UHD resolution (3840 × 2160 pixels). Its 4LED light source delivers an impressive brightness of 3,200 ANSI lumens, enough to enjoy vibrant images even in moderately lit rooms. The dynamic contrast ratio of 3,000,000:1 ensures deep blacks and brilliant whites, essential for faithful film reproduction.

Color accuracy is one of this projector’s major strengths. With 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 and Rec.709 color spaces, the W4100i faithfully reproduces colors as envisioned by filmmakers. Factory calibration ensures a Delta E below 3, guaranteeing precise color nuances. For purists, ISF day and night modes allow for professional calibration tailored to your environment.

HDR compatibility is complete, supporting HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG formats. BenQ has deliberately chosen not to include Dolby Vision, believing that its expertise in colorimetry combined with HDR10+ and dynamic tone mapping delivers equivalent results without compromising quality.

The W4100i adapts to virtually any setup thanks to its 1.3× optical zoom (projection ratio of 1.15 to 1.50) and lens shift system. Vertical shift can reach up to 60%, while horizontal shift goes up to ±15%, allowing you to position the projector optimally without distorting the image.

2D keystone correction (±30 degrees vertically and horizontally) complements these options to accommodate architectural constraints. Weighing just 6.1 kg and measuring 420.5 × 135.3 × 312.1 mm, the W4100i remains compact enough for ceiling or shelf installation.

The projection ratio of 1.15~1.50 allows you to project a 100-inch image from a distance of approximately 2.6 to 3.4 meters, offering appreciable flexibility in medium-sized spaces.

Modern Connectivity and Advanced Features

The W4100i’s connectivity meets today’s demands with three HDMI 2.1 inputs, including one eARC-compatible port for transmitting high-definition audio to a home theater system. The HDMI-3 port supports 4K at 120 Hz (downsampled to 1080p), ideal for demanding gamers.

Android TV 11.0 integration via the included QS02 dongle transforms the projector into a true streaming platform. You get direct access to Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, and other services without any additional device. Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac) and Bluetooth 5.0 complete the wireless arsenal, also allowing projection from a smartphone via AirPlay or Google Cast.

One of the W4100i’s major innovations is its AI Cinema mode. This technology analyzes image composition in real time to optimize HDR, color saturation, and sharpness. Especially effective with compressed content from streaming platforms, it visibly enhances perceived quality on the big screen.

BenQ has developed an image database enabling the projector to recognize different types of content (landscapes, faces, skin tones) and apply appropriate adjustments. This intelligent optimization also applies to SDR content, giving it an HDR-like rendering without distorting the original artistic intent.

Global Contrast and Local Contrast Enhancer technologies work in tandem with Dynamic Black to dynamically adjust light output (from 40% to 100%) according to the scene, maximizing perceived contrast without sacrificing detail in dark or bright areas.

Sleek Design and Physical Features

The W4100i features a clean, elegant design with a predominantly white finish that blends discreetly into any interior. Side ventilation grilles ensure efficient cooling while keeping noise levels at 30 dB in normal mode and 29 dB in ECO mode.

The cooling system has been optimized to maintain stable performance even during extended sessions. Power consumption remains controlled at 330 W in standard operation, a reasonable figure given the brightness delivered.

The built-in 5 W speaker offers an acceptable backup solution but obviously does not replace a dedicated audio system for a true cinematic experience. Dolby Atmos compatibility via eARC allows high-definition audio formats to be transmitted to a compatible amplifier.
