Overview

What the press says

The TT-1 is not Matrix Audio’s first digital streamer. But it clearly marks the beginning of something new, both in terms of industrial design and concept. Controlled by an intuitive app that offers just the right options, this Matrix Audio streamer lets you feed a DAC, an integrated amplifier, or a set of active speakers with high-quality streams. The TT-1 is an asset, whether as part of a hi-fi system or as a desktop device with your headphone setup.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why doesn’t the TT-1 include a DAC like other Matrix Audio products?

The TT-1 is designed as a pure digital audio transport, focusing exclusively on the optimal retrieval and transmission of music data. This approach allows audiophiles to pair the TT-1 with the DAC of their choice, offering maximum flexibility to customize their audio chain according to their sound preferences and budget.

Can I use the TT-1 with streaming services like Qobuz, Tidal, or Spotify?

Absolutely. The TT-1 supports major music streaming services via the MA Remote app. In addition, its Roon Ready certification allows access to these services through the Roon interface, offering an enhanced user experience and advanced library management features.

How does automatic CD ripping work with the TT-1?

Simply connect an external CD drive to one of the TT-1’s USB ports, insert a disc, then select the ripping option on the touchscreen. Files are automatically saved to the internal SSD in a lossless format, preserving the original recording quality. Metadata (artist, album, tracks) is retrieved via the internet.

What NVMe SSD capacity is recommended for the TT-1?

Matrix Audio does not specify a capacity limit, but current NVMe SSDs up to 4TB are generally compatible. For a substantial music library including high-resolution files, an SSD of at least 1TB is recommended. The slot accepts M.2 2280, 2260, and 2242 formats.

Can the TT-1 function as a server for other devices on the network?

Yes, thanks to the SMB protocol, the TT-1 can share its music library with other devices connected to the same network. This feature allows you to use the TT-1 as a central source for multiple audio systems in different rooms, thus optimizing the organization of your music collection.

Do the two femtosecond clocks provide an audible advantage?

This dual clock architecture eliminates issues related to frequency conversion between the 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz families. In practice, this results in a measurable reduction in jitter, leading to a more precise stereo image, better instrument separation, and a more natural rendering of timbres and transients.

User reviews

Francois

I have owned the Matrix Audio TT-1 since June 30. Its design is successful and compact, and it has been in use for about 60 hours (I also own the MA Element S since its release, about 3,500 hours).

I really appreciate this brand.

The TT-1 is integrated into my speaker system > connected via I2S to the Gustard X26 III DAC, to the Hegel H190 amp (balanced), to the Sonus Faber Sonetto VIII speakers.

I do not use streaming, only FLAC, from 16-bit/44.1 kHz to 24-bit/96 kHz, ripped from CDs or downloaded from Bandcamp.

For the TT-1, I bought a 2 TB M.2 NVMe 2280 PCIe Gen 4 SSD to store all my music on it. Copying from the 2 TB Samsung T7 external SSD to the internal SSD took a while (several hours for about 1.4 TB of music), but went smoothly. (You just have to be patient!)
The internal SSD slot can accommodate up to 4 TB! It also has two external USB ports to connect, for example, two 2 TB external SSDs.
In this case (internal + external), the music is properly merged in the MA app.

To add new music, you simply copy it in the same way as before, choosing the copy location via the MA app menus > simple and effective.

The MA Remote app works perfectly this way; no bugs or anything else.

Listening on this system, exactly the same as with the MA Element S, I notice the same sound quality, but with a little more detail. (yet they are only players)
The sound is “clear,” typical of the brand, without any aggressiveness or boosted bass, ideal for pure, realistic, and precise listening.
The MA Remote app works perfectly.

The only downside, (in my opinion), is not being able to access your music library directly from the device (for example in the event of an internet outage), because everything goes through the MA app.

In the end, completely satisfied!

L'emplacement SSD interne peut accueillir jusqu'à 4 To !

L'application MA Remote fonctionne parfaitement.
