The EverSolo Play CD Edition embodies a bold approach in the world of connected hi-fi: reconciling the attachment to physical media with the demands of modern streaming. This all-in-one system combines a stereo amplifier, a full-featured network player, and a CD player with digital ripping function in a compact chassis, targeting music lovers who refuse to choose between a physical collection and the convenience of streaming.
Developed by EverSolo, a brand renowned for its audiophile network players, this model expands the Play series ecosystem by integrating a Hitachi-LG optical CD-ROM mechanism into an anti-vibration structure. This technical solution preserves playback quality while offering proprietary error correction algorithms to optimize compatibility with scratched or aging discs.
Tactile Design and Modern Ergonomics
The Play CD Edition features the clean aesthetic typical of EverSolo products, with a CNC-machined aluminum alloy chassis that ensures rigidity and heat dissipation. The most striking element remains its 5.5-inch front LCD touchscreen, which radically transforms interaction with the device.
This high-definition color screen allows smooth navigation through various sources: network-stored albums, streaming services, and content from inserted CDs. The interface can display album covers, resolution information for digital files, and even offer needle-style VU meters for a vintage touch. This modern tactile approach to CDs breathes new life into the format by making it easy to browse tracks and information.
The RGB volume knob on the front completes this interface, with a customizable light ring that adds a touch of elegance while serving as a visual indicator. The unit remains compact at 230 × 75 × 230 mm, allowing easy integration into most hi-fi setups.
The Renaissance of CD in the Streaming Era
Integrating a CD player into a connected amplifier might seem anachronistic, but EverSolo is betting on a pragmatic approach that meets collectors’ expectations. The Hitachi-LG mechanism does more than just play: it gets the most out of physical media thanks to optimized mechanics and audiophile-grade digital processing.
The built-in ripping function is the major asset of this approach. It allows you to quickly digitize CDs to external USB storage, creating a personal digital library without the need for a computer. This feature is particularly relevant for those who want to preserve physical access to their albums while enjoying the convenience of digital storage.
EverSolo’s proprietary error correction algorithms improve compatibility with old or damaged discs, thus extending the useful life of existing collections. This focus on preserving physical musical heritage sets the Play CD Edition apart from purely digital solutions.
Class D Amplification and Audio Performance
The technical heart of the Play CD Edition is a Class D amplifier using Texas Instruments’ PurePath Ultra HD technology. This modern architecture delivers 60W into 8Ω and 110W into 4Ω per channel, with an integrated feedback system and high-speed error correction that maintains ultra-low distortion across the entire audio band.
The AKM AK4493SEQ digital-to-analog converter with VELVETSOUND technology is another pillar of sound quality. This 32-bit DAC supports resolutions up to PCM 768kHz and DSD512, ensuring precise reproduction of high-resolution files as well as standard redbook CDs. The EOS Audio Engine architecture completely bypasses sample rate conversion limitations, preserving the integrity of the source signal.
Thermal management benefits from a full-coverage heatsink on the underside, ensuring the stability of electronic components during extended listening sessions. This technical design efficiently powers a wide range of bookshelf and medium-efficiency floorstanding speakers, positioning the Play CD Edition as a versatile solution for most home setups.
Streaming Ecosystem and Network Connectivity
Integration with streaming services is one of EverSolo’s strong points. The Play CD Edition natively accesses TIDAL, Qobuz, IDAGIO, Amazon Music, TuneIn Radio, Presto Music, KKBOX, Radio Paradise, Deezer, and SoundCloud. This extensive compatibility is complemented by support for Roon Ready, Qobuz Connect, and TIDAL Connect protocols for seamless integration into existing ecosystems.
The EverSolo multiroom system allows you to interconnect multiple devices from the brand to play music synchronously in different rooms. This feature transcends the traditional physical boundaries of hi-fi listening, creating a unified musical environment throughout the home.
Access to local storage is via LAN with support for UPnP and WebDAV protocols, allowing you to tap into NAS libraries or home computers. The two USB-A ports accept hard drives and USB sticks for direct file playback, offering an alternative to network solutions.
User Interface and Remote Control
The EverSolo Control app for iOS and Android has undergone a visual overhaul that improves user intuitiveness. This remote interface allows you to fully control the device from a distance, browse music libraries, and manage advanced audio settings.
Automatic acoustic calibration via external microphone or smartphone is a valuable feature for optimizing playback according to room acoustics. This digital correction is accompanied by a 15-band graphic equalizer, a 10-band parametric equalizer, and more than 23 genre-based presets for quick customization.
The device’s touchscreen retains significant standalone usability, allowing you to select sources, adjust volume, and browse content without always relying on the mobile app. This dual control approach ensures flexible use for different listening situations.
Complete Analog and Digital Connectivity
The Play CD Edition’s connectivity covers all the needs of a modern hi-fi setup. The phono input with built-in preamplification for MM and MC cartridges allows direct connection of a turntable, eliminating the need for an external preamp. The RCA line input accommodates traditional analog sources.
The HDMI ARC port simplifies integration with a TV, automatically retrieving the audio signal from viewed programs. This function is particularly convenient for unifying the hi-fi system and audiovisual setup in a single installation.
Optical and coaxial digital inputs complete the connectivity arsenal, while the RCA subwoofer output with intelligent bass management allows integration of an active subwoofer. The coaxial output also enables the use of an external DAC for those wishing to upgrade this part of the system.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the main difference between the standard Play and the Play CD Edition?+
The CD Edition version only adds a Hitachi-LG optical CD-ROM drive with digital ripping function. All other specifications remain identical: amplification, DAC, connectivity, and streaming functions are unchanged.
Is 60W into 8Ω enough for demanding speakers?+
This power is perfectly suitable for bookshelf and medium- to high-efficiency floorstanding speakers in standard-sized domestic rooms. For very low-efficiency speakers or very high listening volumes, it may be necessary to consider a more powerful external amplifier.
Can the Play CD Edition be used as a standalone external DAC?+
Yes, the USB audio output supports native DSD512 and PCM 768kHz/32bit according to USB Audio Class standards. It is also possible to use the coaxial output to feed an external DAC while retaining the transport and streaming functions.

This all-in-one is a real knockout; I was thrilled by how easy it is to use and how wide its range of features is. Based on Android, the software is user-friendly and powerful. And the screen is... Wowww... It’s all there, personally I love it! My turntable was connected to the dedicated input, which was completely satisfying, and playing files from my NAS worked without the slightest problem, both over Wi‑Fi and with RJ45. The CD player did the job, just be careful when loading the disc because the tray is the same type as in a laptop. On the other hand, I sometimes like to “crank up the watts” and there, in a 40 m² room, the built-in amp is a bit underpowered for my venerable Kef IQQ7. If it had had a line-out, I would simply have bought a separate amp, but that’s not possible in this setup. In the end… I love this device so much that I ordered an EverSolo DMP-A6 Master Edition Gen 2 with a matching amp; I’m eagerly waiting for the amp to be back in stock so I can finally hook up my new system. And, as already written, thanks to HOMECINESOLUTIONS for their responsiveness!

I’m absolutely delighted to have purchased the EverSolo Play CD Edition. It completely meets my music listening needs, since I mainly listen to streaming music, and I can use, in a really simple way, the platforms I’m subscribed to, such as Apple Music and Spotify, while I wait to try others like Tidal and Qobuz. Everything is already there, preconfigured, easy and straightforward even for me, and I’m not a young tech whiz but a 71‑year‑old retiree.
In addition, I was able to rediscover my CD collection which, by using the CD Ripper function, I copied onto an external hard drive (I’m talking about hundreds of CDs), and now I have them all available for listening through Eversolo. You can also listen to all online radio stations; personally, I often tune in to BBC 6 Music and the sound quality is excellent.
All in all, based on my user experience I am fully satisfied with this product and I definitely recommend it. All you need is a decent internet connection and a bit of free time to enjoy your favorite music.

Used in a small room to power a pair of Waterfall Elora and an Elipson subwoofer. Completely satisfied with the result. Easy to set up and use with the app. The CD player makes it a system with no competition in its category. However, I gave up on the EQ via my smartphone’s microphone—fatal loss of dynamics. Beautiful display with virtual VU meters that look great.
