The heart of the SP-10R lies in a refined coreless direct-drive motor, developed from that of the SL-1200G launched in 2016. This dual-stator, dual-rotor motor incorporates coils on both sides for a 12-pole, 18-coil configuration, generating sufficient torque to drive the 7.9 kg platter. The coils are offset by 60 degrees on each side, reinforcing substrate rigidity and eliminating micro-vibrations while reducing self-inductance.

These technical refinements achieve wow and flutter below 0.015%, considered the measurement limit, with a rumble level down to -92 dB. The thrust bearings, manufactured from a specially developed engineering polymer, support the massive platter while ensuring rigidity and long-term reliability. The starting torque of 0.39 N·m ensures near-instantaneous speed attainment, a characteristic appreciated in both broadcast applications and by enthusiasts seeking immediate responsiveness.

A composite platter with phenomenal inertial mass

The platter represents an engineering feat with its three-layer construction: a 10 mm thick brass base, a die-cast aluminum body, and a damping rubber layer on the underside. Tungsten weights, a material of exceptional density, are positioned on the outer periphery, giving the platter a total mass of 7.9 kg and an inertial mass of approximately 1 ton·cm.

Each material plays a specific role: brass provides mass and rigidity, aluminum ensures structure and heat dissipation, rubber eliminates parasitic resonances. The peripheral tungsten maximizes the flywheel effect while maintaining a standard diameter of 323 mm. This inertial mass stabilizes rotation against groove modulations, ensuring faithful reproduction of timbres.

Uncompromising electrical and mechanical isolation

The separate control unit incorporates a sophisticated switching power supply equipped with an exclusive noise reduction circuit. Communication between the main unit and control module uses a shielded system resistant to external interference. The chassis benefits from two stainless steel masses positioned in its lower section, lowering the center of gravity while increasing structural rigidity.
