Increased power for the front channels
The AVXP 3-300 delivers 300 watts per channel into 4 ohms with all three channels driven, compared with 230 watts for its predecessor. Into 8 ohms, output reaches 190 watts per channel (three channels) or 220 watts in mono. This extra headroom results in better control during demanding dynamic passages — explosions, orchestral crescendos, deep bass — without the amplifier showing signs of strain.
Total harmonic distortion is kept to 0.015% or less at full power at 1 kHz. Bandwidth extends from 10 Hz to 35 kHz within a one-decibel tolerance, and the signal-to-noise ratio is rated at 112 dBA. These measurements place the AVXP 3-300 squarely within the expected standards for an amplifier in this category.
A power supply sized for stability
An amplifier’s behaviour depends as much on its output stage as on its ability to supply current instantaneously. IOTAVX has revised the power-supply architecture to support the increased output: a shielded toroidal transformer capable of delivering up to 1,320 watts, combined with 120,000 µF of filtering capacity.
This energy reserve allows the amplifier to maintain stable voltage during fast transients — a particularly valuable quality with speakers whose impedance varies significantly or that present difficult loads. Operation remains passive, with no fan, ensuring completely silent running.
Connectivity and integration into a multichannel system
The AVXP 3-300 offers RCA and balanced XLR inputs on each of its three channels. The XLR connection provides better immunity to interference over long cable runs, an advantage in setups where the amplifier is located far from the processor or preamplifier.
The unit naturally fits downstream from a home theater processor to drive the front left, right, and center speakers. By offloading these three power-hungry channels from the main amplifier, you free up the latter’s power for the surround channels and height effects speakers. Users familiar with the previous model will find the same design philosophy: class AB, passive cooling, straightforward analog connections. The differences concern output power — 300 watts versus 230 watts into 4 ohms — and the optimisation of the power-supply circuit. Size and weight remain similar, which makes replacement in an existing setup easy.
The AVXP 3-230 received a benchmark distinction in the German specialist press. The AVXP 3-300 continues this lineage with greater power reserves, without changing the proven formula.
A specialised amplifier, not an all-in-one device
The AVXP 3-300 includes no DAC, no streaming, and no room correction. It amplifies an analog signal, full stop. This minimalist approach follows a logic of separating functions: signal processing remains the responsibility of the processor, amplification that of a dedicated power amp. For anyone who already has a quality digital source or a home theater processor, this is a rational choice. Conversely, in a simple system without an external preamplifier, the AVXP 3-300 cannot operate on its own.
