Triangle BLACK - Mounted Speaker (2 x 2.5 m)

Triangle is expanding its cable range with the Black & Red series, a new family of cables and connectors for hi-fi and home theater systems. The Black Serie cable is a pair of pre-terminated speaker cables featuring high-purity OFC copper conductors and an unusual combination of cotton and PVC insulation. Supplied with BP450 banana plugs, these 2.5-meter cables are ready to use and connect to most standard binding posts without tools.

A carefully designed conductor structure

The conductor uses OFC (Oxygen Free Copper) with a purity of 99.99%. This type of copper, refined to remove residual oxygen, offers higher conductivity than standard industrial copper and better stability over time. The multi-strand structure consists of 7 bundles of 32 strands each, a geometry that makes the cable flexible while maintaining low resistance per unit length.

The 1.5 mm² cross-section (equivalent to 15 AWG) per conductor is suitable for medium-sized installations where the distance between amplifier and speakers is no more than a few meters. For longer runs or high-power systems, a larger cross-section would be preferable.

Insulation inspired by the Red series

The Black Serie cable’s insulation follows the philosophy of the Red series with a two-level construction. The inner layer combines cotton and flexible PVC, providing good vibration absorption and effective protection for the conductors. The outer braided textile and PVC sheath combines flexibility with mechanical strength while protecting the cable from electromagnetic interference.

The details of this three-layer insulation: a sheet of cotton surrounds the conductor, followed by cotton insulation, then a PVC sheath. The whole assembly is covered by the woven cotton sleeve visible on the outside. Natural fibers have good dielectric properties and do not accumulate static charge. The textile braid makes it easier to integrate the cable discreetly into the listening space.

Directional cables with arrow markings

Triangle designed these cables to be directional. An arrow marking indicates the direction of signal flow, from the amplifier to the speakers. This directionality is explained by the copper manufacturing process: when the strands are drawn, the metal’s crystalline structure aligns in a given direction. Following this direction during installation ensures a setup consistent with audiophile standards.

Gold-plated banana plugs

The BP450 plugs fitted to the Black Serie cable are gold-plated, a treatment that protects the contact from oxidation and ensures stable conductivity over time. Their 3.6 mm diameter fits 4 mm female binding posts, the most common standard on today’s hi-fi amplifiers and speakers. The spring-contact retention system ensures a firm connection in the binding post without the risk of accidental disconnection.

Installation requires no tools: simply insert the banana plug into the binding post.

Position in the Triangle range

Triangle organizes its cable range into three tiers. The Opéra series, with its transparent PVC insulation, is the entry-level option. The Black Serie cable sits in the middle tier with its cotton/PVC insulation inspired by the higher-end series. The Red series, at the top of the range, takes material and construction quality further.

This mid-range positioning makes the Black Serie a relevant choice for balanced hi-fi systems: it offers more refined construction than the Opéra without reaching the price of the Red series.
