Canton offers with the LS 30 a speaker stand designed for a specific use: to accommodate the Smart Soundbox 3, the German brand’s compact multiroom speaker. This metal stand places the speaker 86 cm off the floor, a height calculated to align the drivers with ear level when seated. The result is a coherent setup, both acoustically and aesthetically.

A design tailored to measure

The LS 30 was not conceived as a generic accessory. Canton developed it specifically for the dimensions and weight of the Smart Soundbox 3, which measures 12 × 21 × 12 cm. The speaker is attached to the top of the stand via an integrated screw thread, eliminating any risk of slipping or unwanted vibration. This rigid mechanical coupling prevents micro-movements that could color the sound, a detail that matters when listening at moderate levels in a quiet environment.

The structure is built around a square-section metal column (25 × 25 cm at the base) that extends down to a metal base. This material choice differs from the older LS 3 model, which used a glass base. Metal provides a firmer footing on soft floors such as carpet or floating wood flooring and withstands accidental impacts better.

Invisible cables, simplified installation

Inside the stand is a vertical channel that allows the Smart Soundbox 3’s power cable to be routed through it. The cable exits at the bottom of the base, out of sight. The visual effect is clean: no wire hanging down along the column. For a neat installation, you’ll need a power outlet very close to the stand, as the speaker’s power cable is relatively short (about 30 cm extend beyond the base once it has been routed).

Assembly requires a few tools. Canton supplies the screw kit, but not the bits suitable for the special screws used. A set of screwdrivers or Torx bits may be necessary.

Listening position and placement in the room

At 86 cm in overall height, the LS 30 places the acoustic center of the Smart Soundbox 3 at about one meter from the floor. This corresponds to the ear height of a listener seated on a standard sofa or armchair. The benefit is immediate: high frequencies, which are naturally directional, reach the listener directly instead of dispersing toward the ceiling.

The 25 × 25 cm base remains discreet, but you should take the actual footprint into account when planning placement. In a living room, a pair of LS 30 stands placed on either side of a TV unit or sofa makes it possible to create a well-balanced stereo setup with two Smart Soundbox 3 speakers.

Finishes and decorative integration

Canton offers the LS 30 in two shades: silky matte black and silky matte white. These finishes match those of the Smart Soundbox 3, ensuring visual harmony between the stand and the speaker. The brushed metal base adds a subtle touch, without harsh reflections.

The stand weighs 2 kg on its own. Once the speaker is screwed on (about 2 kg as well), the total weight comes to 4 kg, which is still easy to move to fine-tune positioning.
