Canton has fitted its on-wall speaker into an enclosure barely deeper than a smartphone, while still housing a 154 mm driver and a passive radiator of identical size. The GLE 15 S2 retains the elongated format of its predecessor, the GLE 15 OnWall, and dresses it with the new ATB (Aluminium Titanium Black) transducers shared across the entire S2 range.
A bass-reflex design engineered for wall mounting
The GLE 15 S2 relies on a duo of diaphragms: at the front, a 154 mm mid-bass driver; at the rear, a passive radiator of the same diameter. This second, unpowered diaphragm vibrates in sympathy with the main transducer and extends the low-frequency response without requiring a large cabinet volume. Canton specifies a low frequency of 43 Hz, a respectable value for a cabinet of this size, allowing for music or movie listening without a subwoofer in small to medium-sized rooms. For larger spaces or bass enthusiasts, adding a subwoofer is still easily achievable: the GLE 15 S2 can handle up to 110 W peak.
The 25 mm dome tweeter benefits from a waveguide tuned to widen both horizontal and vertical dispersion. The stated response extends up to 40 kHz, well beyond the audible spectrum, but indicative of the absence of parasitic limitations in the treble.
ATB transducers, the hallmark of the S2 range
Canton has equipped the entire GLE S2 series with its “Aluminium Titanium Black” diaphragms. This black coating on the titanium cones provides increased rigidity while keeping weight under control. The polycarbonate baskets and triple-fold Wave surrounds, inherited from higher-end series, contribute to the overall mechanical stability. In practice, this generation of transducers offers better midrange definition and reduced distortion at high volume.
The AB (Aluminium Black) tweeter follows the same aesthetic principle with a dark dome. Its redesigned waveguide improves coherence between treble and midrange at the crossover frequency (3,000 Hz), often a critical point on compact speakers.
Mounting and orientation: vertical, horizontal, or both
The GLE 15 S2 includes an integrated wall-mounting system. No need for a third-party bracket: the cabinet mounts directly against the wall. Orientation is up to the user. In a vertical position, the speaker works as a stereo tower or surround channel. In a horizontal position, it becomes a center channel under a TV. This versatility makes the GLE 15 S2 a modular element in a multichannel system: two units at the front, three for a 3.0 setup, or five in a consistent 5.0 configuration.
The oval fabric grille, magnetically attached, can be removed without tools. It hides the drivers for a discreet look, or reveals the black hardware for those who prefer a more technical appearance.

The GLE 15 S2 naturally pairs with other models in the S2 series: GLE 80 or GLE 90 floorstanders, GLE 30 bookshelf speakers, Power Sub 12 subwoofer. For a setup without a traditional amplifier, Canton offers the Smart Amp 5.1, a compact unit that handles multichannel decoding and wireless streaming. Yes. Mounted horizontally under a TV, it delivers dialogue with good clarity thanks to its 154 mm driver. Its width of 52 cm (which becomes the height in the horizontal position) does, however, require checking the available space under the screen.
Can the GLE 15 S2 be used without a subwoofer?
For music listening or movies in a 15 to 25 m² room, the frequency response extends low enough (43 Hz) to remain well-balanced. In larger rooms or with soundtracks rich in infra-bass, a subwoofer provides a worthwhile complement.
