With a depth of just 10 cm, this 2-way on-wall speaker from the GLE S2 series blends into even the most space-constrained interiors without sacrificing sound quality. Canton has equipped the PRO version with a universal swiveling mount: vertical wall mounting, horizontal mounting or angled ceiling mounting – anything is possible. This versatility enables a wide range of uses, from compact stereo to elevated Dolby Atmos height channels.

A compact cabinet designed to disappear

The GLE 10 PRO S2 format meets a growing demand: integrating speakers into rooms where wall space is limited. Its dimensions of 17 × 30 cm with a depth of 9 cm (without the mount) allow discreet installation above a piece of furniture, in a room corner, or on the ceiling. The cabinet weighs 3 kg, which makes mounting easier.

The supplied universal mount allows rotation on multiple axes. Once the speaker is aimed at the listening area, it locks in place. This flexibility sets the PRO version apart from the standard GLE 10 S2 model, which has an integrated wall mount but no tilt adjustment.

Canton offers two finishes: black and white, with satin front panels and an oval fabric grille held in place by magnets. The grille can be removed effortlessly to access the drivers or simply change the appearance.

ATB technology serving the mid-bass

The 154 mm driver uses an ATB (Aluminium Titan Black) cone, an aluminum-titanium diaphragm with a black coating. This process, common to the entire GLE S2 series, improves rigidity while keeping mass low. Canton pairs this driver with a reinforced polycarbonate basket, a powerful magnet system and a “triple-folded wave surround” suspension that extends the usable excursion.

In its sealed enclosure, this driver goes down to 45 Hz according to the manufacturer’s measurements. The absence of a port simplifies placement: there is no minimum distance requirement from the wall. Bass reproduction remains controlled and tight, although adding an active subwoofer is still advisable for demanding home cinema use.

An aluminum-dome tweeter with a wider waveguide

The 25 mm AB (Aluminium Black) tweeter benefits from a newly designed waveguide for the S2 series. Canton claims extension up to 40,000 Hz and wider dispersion, two useful characteristics when the speaker is mounted high up or off the listening axis.

The crossover frequency between the two drivers is set at 3,200 Hz. The passive crossover uses components suited to a nominal impedance of 4 to 8 ohms. The sensitivity of 86 dB (2.83 V / 1 m) is on the lower side for a compact speaker: an amplifier capable of delivering at least 50 W per channel will be more comfortable than a small entry-level integrated unit.

Installation configurations and common uses

Canton positions the GLE 10 PRO S2 as a flexible element in a multichannel system. Some typical configurations:

• On-wall stereo pair in a living room or bedroom, complemented by a Canton Power Sub 12 S2 subwoofer for low frequencies.
• Rear surround speakers in a 5.1 or 7.1 system, with GLE 70 S2 or GLE 90 S2 floorstanders at the front.
• Atmos height channels on the ceiling, angled toward the listening area thanks to the swivel mount.
• Side effects in a 7.1.4 configuration where surround speakers must remain discreet.

The binding posts accept banana plugs, which simplifies connection. Canton’s CantoLink 400 or 600 cable, sold separately, ensures optimal compatibility but is not mandatory.

Improvements over the previous generation

The GLE 10 Pro (without the S2 designation) already used a titanium woofer and aluminum tweeter, but the new S2 generation introduces several refinements. The black coating on the diaphragms (the “B” in ATB and AB) increases rigidity. The tweeter’s waveguide has been widened to improve off-axis dispersion. The wave surround suspensions are now triple-fold, compared with a single fold on the previous series.

Visually, the magnetic oval grille replaces the former rectangular grille, and the finishes now benefit from a more uniform satin treatment. The dimensions remain almost identical, so integrating the new model into an existing system poses no physical compatibility issues.
