The C19 connector is not there by chance. This format, capable of handling 16 amperes compared to 10 for the standard C13, is designed for current-hungry equipment: power amplifiers, monoblocks, active subwoofers, IsoTek power conditioners such as the Titan or the Aquarius. The Premier CE19 takes the proven formula of the EVO3 Premier range and adapts it to these specific needs, with a power cable whose design goes well beyond that of the cords supplied as standard.
Conductors designed for current transmission
Three conductors with a 2.0 mm² cross-section work in parallel with a slight twist, a geometry that limits the intrusion of electromagnetic and radio frequency interference. The copper used reaches a purity of 99.9999% (6N), deoxidised and then silver-plated. Silver, a better electrical conductor than copper alone, lowers the overall resistance of the cable. The multi-strand construction, unlike solid-core conductors, reduces the risk of breakage and degradation over time.
The insulation is based on an FEP (fluorinated ethylene propylene) dielectric, a chemically inert material whose dielectric constant of 2.1 is among the lowest available. FEP withstands temperature variations and has a low friction coefficient, qualities that make it a first-rate insulator for electrical applications. A cotton padding surrounds the conductors before the application of a paper wrapping; this combination of natural materials improves dielectric properties while dampening mechanical vibrations (microphony). The outer PVC sheath provides flexibility and robustness: the cable can be handled with ease even in the confined spaces of a hi-fi cabinet.
Connectors sized for amplifiers
The C19 connector differs from the C13 by its wider rectangular shape and its ability to handle currents of 16 amperes at 250 volts, representing a theoretical power of 4,000 watts. This specification meets the needs of power amplifiers, monoblock power units, and IsoTek equipment itself (Titan V5, Sigmas V5, Aquarius V5 are all fitted with C20 inputs compatible with this cable).
The moulded connectors of the Premier CE19 are made from OFC copper (90% copper, 10% zinc) with 24-carat gold plating on the contacts. Gold resists oxidation and maintains stable conductivity over time. The Schuko wall plug completes the assembly for European installations.
Where the Premier CE19 fits in
The C19 version meets a specific need: powering equipment whose mains input uses a C20 socket. This is the case for large power amplifiers (above 150–200 watts), high-end monoblock units, powerful active subwoofers, and IsoTek power conditioners from the Performance and Ultimate ranges. On an amplifier fitted with a standard C14 socket, this cable simply cannot be connected: the C13 version of the same cable should be chosen instead.
The 1.5-metre length suits most installations where the equipment is located within a reasonable distance of the wall socket. The 10 mm outer diameter and the flexibility of the PVC allow the cable to be routed without excessive strain, even behind a piece of furniture.
Cabling consistency within an IsoTek system
IsoTek emphasises the benefit of maintaining consistency of materials and design throughout the mains cabling of a system. The internal wiring of IsoTek power conditioners uses similar conductors (silver-plated 6N OFC copper, FEP dielectric), ensuring continuity of electrical properties between the power cable and the device it feeds. This consistency logic extends across the entire EVO3 cable range.
