XGIMI Active 3D glasses
Overview
3D in cinema relies on a well-calibrated illusion: sending each eye a distinct image so the brain recreates depth. These XGIMI glasses handle that with shutter lenses that open and close dozens of times per second, in sync with the projector. Nothing to plug in, no transmitter to place on the cabinet: put them on, start a 3D movie, and depth appears.
Synchronization via the projector’s light
Unlike passive glasses, these lenses do not filter light continuously: they block it alternately, left eye then right eye, at the pace of the images displayed by the projector. Synchronization is handled by DLP-Link technology, a brief flash of light emitted between two images that the glasses detect to stay aligned. In practical terms, there is no radio or infrared transmitter to install: the projector and the lenses communicate directly through light.
The LCD lens response time drops below 2 ms. This responsiveness reduces persistence, that ghosting effect that occurs when a shutter is slow to close and lets through the image intended for the other eye.
Stable depth wherever you sit
Alternating shuttering has a known downside: each eye remains blocked half the time, which darkens the perceived image. XGIMI claims 8% higher brightness and a high-transmission lens to offset part of this loss, with reworked definition and color rendering.
The viewing angle reaches 178°, and the depth effect holds even when you are not seated directly in front of the screen. The lenses also enlarge the image by about 10% compared with standard models, slightly widening the field of view. For comfortable viewing, XGIMI recommends a viewing distance of 2 to 5 meters.
Sixty hours and automatic standby
The built-in lithium battery has a capacity of 80 mAh for 60 hours of continuous operation on a single charge. Enough to watch a long run of movies before bringing out the USB cable again.
Power management takes care of itself. The glasses wake from standby as soon as they detect a DLP-Link signal and return to standby when the signal stops, at the end of a session or during a pause. This automatic standby preserves the charge without any manual action.
Compatible XGIMI and DLP-Link projectors
Compatibility covers most of the recent XGIMI catalog:
- HORIZON Ultra
- MoGo 2 Series
- AURA
- HORIZON Pro
- HORIZON
- Halo Plus
- Elfin
- Halo
- MoGo Pro
Outside this list, the glasses work with other DLP-Link projectors that support 3D. Two conditions remain essential: the projector must support DLP-Link 3D mode, and the source being played must be in 3D format. Without these two elements, the lenses produce no depth effect.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can these glasses be used over prescription glasses?
The frame is sized to be worn over a pair of prescription glasses. Nearsighted or farsighted people can keep their usual lenses on during the session, with comfort then depending on the size of their own frame.
How many pairs can be worn at the same time in front of a single projector?
The number is not limited. Since DLP-Link synchronization relies on the projector’s light flash, all pairs present in the room lock onto the same signal. Each equipped viewer therefore sees the 3D effect at the same time.
How do you recharge the battery?
Charging is done via USB cable. Since the battery is integrated, it is not replaceable: once it reaches the end of its life after many cycles, the entire pair must be replaced.
Do these glasses work with a 3D TV?
No. They are intended for DLP-Link projectors that support 3D, not for televisions, monitors, or 3D projectors that use infrared or Bluetooth. The synchronization method is not the same.
Does 3D strain the eyes?
Rapid shuttering remains imperceptible to most viewers, but some people are more sensitive to it, especially over long periods. Regular breaks and following the recommended viewing distance help limit discomfort.
