Overview
A compact speaker placed on a piece of furniture or a shelf loses some of its qualities: unsuitable listening height, vibrations transmitted to the support, unwanted resonances. A good stand corrects these flaws. With its extruded metal column and rigid plywood base, the Axis 600 places the speaker at the right height and gives it a stable, acoustically engineered foundation.
The tweeter at ear height
The quality of a bookshelf speaker depends first and foremost on its position in the room. The tweeter, the driver that reproduces high frequencies, must be at ear height when seated: this is the condition for a clear stereo image and accurate tonal balance. A shelf or piece of furniture is rarely at the right height.
The Axis is available in three sizes, 500, 600 and 700 mm. The 600 mm version is suited to medium-sized bookshelf speakers.
Metal and plywood against vibrations
Blok is the hi-fi furniture brand of Monitor Audio Group, and the Axis applies a simple idea: a stand should add nothing to the speaker’s sound.
The metal top plate features isolation pads on which the speaker rests. These contact points limit the transfer of vibrations between the cabinet and the stand, for cleaner, more focused sound. The top plate accommodates any bookshelf speaker.
Beneath this plate, an extruded metal column provides rigidity for the whole assembly. Its base, a chamfered plywood plinth, is deliberately wide and very rigid: it stabilizes the stand and absorbs vibrations that could rise from the floor. Overall clarity and tonal accuracy benefit as a result.
IsoFill to add weight to the column
The hollow column can optionally be filled with IsoFill. This damping material combines metal hexagons of various sizes; poured into the tube, they add mass and absorb internal resonances. The stand moves less, as does the cabinet: bass becomes tighter and firmer, and the overall sound is cleaner. IsoFill is sold separately.
Decoupling the speaker from the floor
Each stand is supplied with stainless steel spikes that fit beneath the base. They anchor the stand to the floor and isolate the speaker from vibrations, improving clarity and soundstage precision. For hard floors, Blok Floor Guard discs, sold separately, fit beneath the spikes: these stainless steel cups protect the floor covering and add an extra layer of isolation.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do you choose between Axis heights 500, 600, and 700?
The correct height places the tweeter at ear level when seated. Measure the distance between the floor and your ears once you are seated, then take into account the position of the tweeter on the speaker, which is often located towards the top of the cabinet. The 500 mm suits larger bookshelf speakers, small rooms, and near-field listening; the 600 mm suits medium-sized models; the 700 mm suits the most compact speakers, which need to be raised higher.
Is IsoFill essential?
No. The stand works very well without it. IsoFill, sold separately, is an add-on: it fills the column, adds mass and improves vibration control, which tightens the bass. Best reserved for setups where you want to get the most out of the stand.
What type of floor should the stand be installed on?
On carpet, the spikes are sufficient: they pass through the fibers and anchor the foot to the solid floor beneath. On hardwood or tile, add Floor Guard discs under the spikes to protect the surface from marks while maintaining coupling.
Which speaker can be installed on the stand?
The platform accommodates bookshelf and compact speakers. Before purchasing, check that your speaker’s base does not extend too far beyond the platform and that its weight remains reasonable for stable support.
