Audio Pro C5 MkII W, connected stereo in a compact package
Twenty-five centimeters wide, two stereo channels in a single cabinet, and a natural fit on a kitchen sideboard, desk, or bedside table: the C5 MkII has filled this role in Audio Pro’s lineup for several years. This W version keeps the cabinet and drivers but changes the software. It gains a new app, AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Spotify Connect, and TIDAL Connect, along with six presets accessible with a press on the top panel.
Three drivers for stereo sound from a single cabinet
Behind the removable fabric grille, two 19 mm soft-dome tweeters flank a 10 cm driver that handles the midrange and bass. Each tweeter reproduces one channel, left or right. The central driver combines both channels at the low end of the spectrum, where the ear can barely distinguish where a sound comes from. Three class D digital amplifiers each power one driver: 8 W for each tweeter and 25 W for the bass-midrange driver, for a total of 41 W. With this bi-amplified design, the signal does not pass through a passive crossover; the frequencies are divided electronically before reaching the amplifiers.
The bass-midrange driver is a long-throw model whose coated-paper cone can travel far forward and backward. This movement partly compensates for its small diameter and lets it reach down to 50 Hz, helped by a bass-reflex port on the rear of the cabinet. Placed near a wall, the speaker gains a little more weight in the bass, provided there is around ten centimeters of clearance behind it for ventilation. The two tweeters remain close together on a 25 cm-wide front panel: a single C5 MkII W creates a narrower stereo soundstage than two speakers placed apart in the room.
A redesigned app built on WiiM technology
Unveiled at IFA in Berlin in September 2025, the W generation leaves the C5 MkII’s cabinet and drivers unchanged. It replaces the network streaming platform with one from WiiM, a brand of network audio players from LinkPlay, and adds a new Audio Pro app for iOS and Android. The control panel, rear plate, and logos have been updated to match the rest of the range.
The app brings together an equalizer and around twenty online music services: Qobuz, TIDAL, Deezer, Amazon Music, Spotify, Internet radio services such as TuneIn or Radio Paradise, and Plex for those who keep their library on a computer or server. With Spotify Connect and TIDAL Connect, playback is controlled from the service’s app. The phone then serves only as a remote control, while the music reaches the speaker directly from the Internet. AirPlay 2 and Google Cast stream audio from an iPhone, a Mac, or a compatible Android app. Over Wi-Fi, streams support up to 24-bit / 96 kHz audio, a step above CD quality, and FLAC or Apple Lossless files play without loss.
Six presets to start music without a phone
On top, touch controls handle power, source selection, Bluetooth pairing, playback and pause, track skipping, and volume. Six numbered buttons complete the panel. Holding one for three seconds saves the current radio station or playlist, and a short press then starts it again without using the app. In a kitchen, the morning radio starts with a tap, even when your hands are busy. Presets can also be changed in the app. After around twenty minutes without a signal, the speaker puts itself into standby.
A line input shared throughout the house
On the rear, an RCA line input accepts an analog source: a CD player, tuner, television audio output, or turntable, provided it is connected through a phono preamplifier, which is not built into the speaker. Sound connected there is not confined to the room. When the C5 MkII W leads a group in the app, it streams this input, as well as a signal received over Bluetooth, to the other Audio Pro speakers in the group. A turntable in the living room can then also be heard in the bedroom or office.
A subwoofer output completes the connections. An active subwoofer connected to it handles the deepest bass, beyond the reach of a 10 cm driver at high volume. The rear panel also has a USB-A port reserved for maintenance, a connect and reset button, and a power socket with a detachable cord. The speaker has no optical input, HDMI, or Ethernet port. A television therefore connects through its analog output, and network access is exclusively via Wi-Fi, on either 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz. Bluetooth 4.2, limited to the SBC codec, is sufficient for a guest or a podcast, though its quality falls short of Wi-Fi streams.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can two C5 MkII W speakers be paired for a wider stereo soundstage?
Yes, the app pairs two speakers as left and right channels. Each then plays just one channel, and the distance between the two speakers creates a much wider soundstage than a single speaker, whose tweeters are only a few centimeters apart.
What's the difference compared with the C5 MkII W Classic?
The Classic version adds a leather carrying handle and a brass-colored control panel. The speakers, amplification, and connections are identical.
Does the speaker work without a Wi-Fi network?
Partly. Bluetooth and the line input still work without a home network. Online music services, Internet radio, AirPlay 2, Google Cast, presets, and multiroom listening require a Wi-Fi connection with Internet access.
What sound quality can you expect with each streaming method?
Services played through the app or via Spotify Connect and TIDAL Connect, like Google Cast, support up to 24-bit / 96 kHz audio, depending on what the service offers. AirPlay 2 transmits lossless audio, but at 16-bit / 44.1 kHz, or CD quality. Bluetooth using SBC compresses the signal with loss and remains the least faithful option.
Can it be added to a speaker group from another brand?
Yes, through open protocols. From an iPhone or Mac, AirPlay 2 groups the C5 MkII W with any AirPlay 2-compatible speaker, and Google Cast does the same with compatible devices through the Google Home app. Audio Pro’s own multiroom system, including line-input rebroadcasting, remains limited to the brand’s speakers.
How do I connect a TV that only has an optical output?
The speaker does not have an optical input. You need a small digital-to-analog converter to turn the optical signal into an RCA signal, then connect it to the line input. If the TV has a mini-jack headphone output, a mini-jack-to-RCA cable is enough.
What finishes are available?
The C5 MkII W is available in black, white and grey. The fabric grille matches the cabinet’s colour and can be removed to reveal the drivers.
