HumminGuru Complete Maintenance Kit for HG01

An ultrasonic record cleaning machine brings together water, blown air and moving parts, and it is these moving parts that wear out over repeated cycles. This kit includes replacement parts for the HumminGuru Original (HG01): two sets of rotation wheels, five water filters, five air filters and two EVA stickers, enough to replace each component several times before having to reorder.

HG01 wear parts in one kit

The HG01 cleans the record without touching it. Standing upright in a one-piece stainless steel tank, it passes in front of two 40 kHz transducers that create microscopic bubbles in the water, whose implosion dislodges dust and deposits from the bottom of the grooves. Once washing is complete, the water automatically returns to the reservoir and two fans dry both sides in 5 or 10 minutes. The kit covers everything that, during this process, rubs against the edge of the record or traps impurities from the water and air. It contains no cleaning fluid or accessories and is only suitable for the HG01 model.

Wheels that hold the record by its edge

The record rests on two wheels that hold it by the edge and rotate it during washing. The water only reaches the edge of the groove-free area near the label, which stays dry: rotation is what brings the entire grooved surface through the bath. A worn wheel grips the edge less effectively, causing the record to rotate unevenly or stop. To check their condition, remove the wheels from their housings and turn them by hand; if they no longer rotate freely, they need replacing. With two sets in the box, the machine has two complete replacements in reserve.

Two filters, one for water and one for air

The water filter sits in the reservoir and traps the larger residues drained from the tank after each wash. It is rinsed with clean water and must then dry completely before being used again, and should be replaced when its colour darkens noticeably or it shows signs of wear.

The air filter is located beneath the side panel, at the fans’ air intake. The HG01 dries with ambient air, without heating, and this filter prevents dust in the room from sticking to a still-damp record. It should be cleaned once a month, more often if the machine is used frequently, and replaced when damaged. The five of each filter cover a long period of use, since rinsing extends the life of each one.

EVA stickers for undersized records

A 30 cm 33 rpm record actually measures between 300 and 302 mm. A slightly oval pressing or a record warped by improper storage can fall below 300 mm, and then no longer rests properly on the wheels. The EVA stickers, approximately 1 mm thick, correct this discrepancy: attached to the back of wheel no. 1, located on the left of the machine, the sticker shifts it very slightly outwards. The wheel is removed by holding its top and bottom edges and pulling horizontally, and is reinstalled in the same way, with the number 1 facing upwards. The added thickness must not exceed 2 mm and the sticker must not cover the wheel’s lower groove.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this kit compatible with the HumminGuru NOVA (HG05)?

No. The NOVA features redesigned rotation wheels that are more durable and non-replaceable. They are adjusted using the maintenance tool supplied with the machine, making the EVA sticker unnecessary on this model.

What water should I use to protect the machine’s filters and pipes?

Distilled water, ideally lukewarm, between 25 and 35 °C. Tap water leaves limescale in the drainage channels depending on local water hardness, and demineralized or deionized water may retain particles that lodge in the grooves or build up in the circuit over time.

How often should the water in the tank be changed?

Distilled water can be reused from one wash to the next as long as it does not look visibly dirty. How often it needs changing depends on the condition of the records being cleaned: a batch of dirty second-hand records will cloud it much faster than recent pressings.

Does the kit include a cleaning liquid?

No, it contains only mechanical and filtering components. The bath consists of distilled water, to which a few drops of an alcohol-free cleaning agent can be added. Corrosive or flammable products must not be used, nor must isopropyl alcohol-based mixtures.

A record still won't spin with new wheels, what should I check?

First, its centering: the disc must rest right in the middle of wheel no. 1 and in the slot of the tank filter. If the problem persists, the disc is probably slightly undersized, oval or warped, and this is what the EVA sticker addresses.

Why does a record remain wet after drying even though the air filter is clean?

Drying time depends on the condition of the record, the temperature and the humidity level in the room. If the long 10-minute setting is not enough, simply run another 5- or 10-minute drying-only cycle.
