Overview
Forty centimetres tall with a platform tilted backwards: the stand that Triangle pairs with its Borea BR05 breaks with the usual speaker stand, which is taller and perfectly upright. The speaker stays close to the floor, which suits the generous dimensions of this large bookshelf model, and the tilt directs the sound towards seated listeners. The S03 comes in black or white and also accommodates the Borea BR03 and BR04.
A lower height offset by the tilt
A speaker stand’s primary purpose is to position the tweeter, the small driver responsible for high frequencies, at a seated person’s ear level, around one metre above the floor. High frequencies spread in a narrow beam: when they aim at the chest rather than the head, the stereo image loses definition, and voices and instruments are positioned less precisely between the two speakers. At 40 cm (38 cm without the spikes), the S03 positions the speaker lower than a conventional stand, and the platform’s tilt compensates for the difference by angling the front panel upwards, towards the sofa. A BR05, which is 49 cm tall, reaches approximately 89 cm when placed on it, and a BR04 just over 80 cm: enough to fit the pair beside a low TV unit or in front of a window without blocking the view. The angle is fixed, but the height-adjustable spikes allow a slight adjustment to the tilt if the listening position is very close or very far away.
Four steel tubes and a platform that holds the speaker in place
The highly rigid steel structure rests on four tubes connecting a 31 × 31 cm base to a 20 × 29 cm platform. This rigidity has a direct effect on the sound: as the driver cone moves forwards and backwards, it pushes the cabinet in the opposite direction, and a stand that flexes or vibrates adds its own resonances, resulting in less controlled bass and a muddier midrange. This becomes more important with the BR05, whose 21 cm bass driver moves more air than a small bookshelf speaker. Since the speaker rests on an inclined surface, Triangle has added a fold at the back of the platform, a raised lip that prevents it from sliding; the platform, narrower than the BR05’s cabinet (30 cm wide), supports it at the centre and leaves its sides overhanging. The cable runs through an integrated passage in the stand rather than hanging behind the speaker. Each stand weighs 7.7 kg and cannot be filled with sand or beads: its stability comes from its weight and the footprint of its base.
Spikes or pads, depending on the floor
The S03 comes with two decoupling options. The steel spikes penetrate a carpet or rug to rest on the hard floor underneath, and their single-point contact limits vibration transmission; their height can be adjusted individually to eliminate any rocking on an old wooden floor or tiles with pronounced grout lines. Spike cups, small discs slipped under each spike, protect delicate floors while retaining this single-point contact. The Triangle-branded rubber pads take over on a hard floor that you do not want to mark, or when you prefer to move the stands easily to find the right position.
The Borea BR05 and its two neighbours
The BR05 is the largest bookshelf speaker in the Borea range: a reinforced cabinet measuring 30 × 49 × 34.5 cm and weighing 14.6 kg, a 25 mm EFS fabric-dome tweeter, a 21 cm mid-bass driver with a cellulose pulp cone and two front-facing bass-reflex ports, which allow placement fairly close to the wall. Triangle supplies it with a base that already tilts it when placed on the floor; the S03 replaces this to raise it by 40 cm while retaining this principle of angling it towards the listener. The BR03 and BR04 bookshelf speakers also fit on the S03. The brand already recommends the S02 for these two models; the S03 is its low-height alternative, with a tilted platform, for interiors where a tall stand would be too conspicuous. The two finishes, black and white, match both solid-colour Borea cabinets and chestnut or light oak veneers, with the stand remaining discreet beneath the speaker.

Frequently asked questions
Do you need the S03 to use a Borea BR05?
No. The BR05 comes with a base that tilts it and allows it to be placed directly on the floor; it then stands 55 cm tall. The S03 raises it by around forty centimetres, bringing the tweeter closer to the ears of someone sitting on a sofa and further away from the floor. The base is suitable for listening at a low height or for a room where a very discreet setup is preferred.
Can a speaker other than a Borea be placed on the S03?
The platform measures 20 cm wide by 29 cm deep, and the rear lip holds the cabinet in place despite the tilt. A compact speaker whose base rests firmly on this surface will fit. The S03’s benefit lies in its tilt, which requires a speaker whose tweeter sits below ear level when positioned 40 cm above the floor.
Should you choose spikes or pads for a hardwood floor?
Both work. Spikes resting on their spike cups provide the firmest support and can be adjusted to compensate for uneven wood flooring. Rubber pads are suitable if the wood flooring is sealed or delicate and you want to avoid any risk of marks, or if the stands need to be moved from time to time.
Can the S03 be weighted to make it heavier?
No, its tubes are not designed to be filled with sand or ballast beads. Its 7.7 kg of steel and 31 × 31 cm base provide sufficient stability for compatible Borea speakers, including the BR05.
Does the low position change the bass?
A speaker closer to the floor receives more reinforcement from that surface, which can make the bass slightly more prominent than with a tall stand. The effect depends on the room and the distance from the walls; it can be adjusted by moving the speakers forward or backward a few centimeters.
Is the S03 suitable for a home theater setup?
At the front, on either side of a screen on a low cabinet, it positions the front speakers at a height that aligns with the picture while directing the treble towards the sofa. The integrated cable routing keeps the setup tidy, which matters in a living room where cables are visible.
How do I eliminate slight wobbling after installation?
Simply loosen or tighten the relevant spike until the stand rests firmly on all four supports. Once level, place the speaker on it, and the edge of the top plate holds it in position at the rear.
