Vogel’s Elite TVM 5645, swivel TV wall mount

Sitting just 4 cm from the wall for straight-on viewing, extending up to 65 cm when you want to turn the screen towards the kitchen or a corner of the living room: this wall mount works in both positions. It supports TVs from 40 to 77 inches weighing up to 45 kg, swivels at the touch of a finger and keeps cables tucked inside its arms. It does not tilt, a deliberate choice by Vogel’s.

A mount that sits flat against the wall, with long arms to turn the screen

When folded back, the rear of the TV sits 40 mm from the wall. That is a small gap, and its main advantage over a conventional swivel mount, which is often thicker even when folded back. The two 65 cm arms unfold at three pivot points (at the wall plate, the elbow and the TV attachment) and extend the screen up to 652 mm from the wall.

This length allows a total swivel range of 180°, or up to 90° to the left or right. The actual range depends on the width of the screen: a 77-inch TV reaches the wall sooner than a 50-inch model when turned to a right angle. In a long room or a living room opening onto a dining room, this range changes everyday use, as the screen follows where you sit rather than the other way round.

No tilt, but fine adjustment after installation

The TVM 5645 does not offer downward tilt. Vogel’s explains this by pointing to the fragility of large, very thin screens, such as OLED models, whose mounting points are best kept free from strain. The trade-off is simple: a TV mounted very high, above a fireplace for example, will remain vertical. The drilling height must therefore be chosen carefully, with the centre of the screen at seated eye level remaining the most comfortable reference point.

Instead, the mount features 2D Leveling adjustment. Once the TV is mounted, its level and vertical alignment can still be corrected. A drill hole a few millimetres out of position or a slightly uneven wall can be compensated for without taking the screen down or drilling again.

One-finger swivelling and steel construction

Vogel’s calls this mount’s movement OneFinger: coated bearings and precision steel axles make rotation smooth enough to move the screen with a single finger, without jerking or pulling on the TV. The mechanisms remain hidden behind finishing covers, and soft pads protect the back of the screen where it touches the mount.

The structure is almost entirely steel (5.8 kg of steel and less than 400 g of plastic), and Vogel’s states that the whole unit is 100% recyclable. The mount is TÜV-certified, tested to three times its maximum load, or 135 kg, and comes with a 15-year warranty. It has an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) that puts its carbon footprint at 21.2 kg CO₂ equivalent.

Cables tucked inside the arms

Vogel’s Cable Inlay System houses cables in channels recessed into the arms and closed with covers. Cable holders at the back of the TV complete the system: when the screen swivels, the cables follow the movement without dangling or getting caught in the joints. Cable management does, however, stop at the mount itself. The section of cables running down from the mount to the sockets and set-top box still needs to be handled separately, using trunking or the brand’s TVA 7000 cable cover.

A VESA attachment that fits almost any TV

Four threaded holes on the back of a TV accommodate the mount. Their spacing, expressed in millimetres, corresponds to the VESA standard. The TVM 5645 supports sixteen patterns, from 100 × 100 to 600 × 400 mm, with a universal interface measuring 425 mm high and 660 mm wide. Screen size alone is not enough to confirm compatibility: you must also check the TV’s weight without its stand, which must not exceed 45 kg, and the spacing between its mounting holes, as listed in its manual.

Guided installation, from wall plate to adjustment

The wall plate is 360 mm high. It is secured using the supplied fischer DuoPower wall plugs, which suit several types of solid and hollow walls. The kit includes a drilling template, a spirit level, TV mounting screws and a quick installation guide. Vogel’s DrillRight app (iOS and Android) helps position the holes and also serves as a spirit level. The full manual is available online, along with an installation video. As with any large screen, hanging the TV on the arms is a two-person job.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference compared to the TVM 5445 and TVM 5845?

These are the other two sizes in the same Elite series. The TVM 5445 accommodates TVs from 32 to 65 inches weighing up to 35 kg, with 56 cm arms. The TVM 5845 takes it up a notch with screens from 55 to 100 inches weighing up to 55 kg. The TVM 5645 sits between the two, and a 65-inch TV can fit on either the 5445 or the 5645: the latter extends it farther from the wall and swivels it further.

Can this mount be attached to a plasterboard partition?

The supplied wall plugs are suitable for several types of wall, but a partition built on a timber or metal frame requires the load to be transferred to that frame. Vogel’s offers the TVA 6950 adapter for this purpose, which widens the support area and attaches to the studs. A TV extended to 65 cm exerts considerable leverage on the wall plate, which is why it is important not to improvise when mounting on a hollow wall.

Can a soundbar be installed under the TV?

Yes, with the Vogel’s SOUND 3550 mount, which attaches below the TV. The soundbar then follows the screen when it is swivelled and stays centred beneath the picture. Its weight is added to that of the TV when calculating the maximum load of 45 kg.

Where should you place an internet router or media player?

Vogel’s offers the TVA 6400, a media box mount that attaches to the back of the TV. The box stays hidden, and the short cables between the box and the screen follow the same route as the rest.

How can I hide the cables between the mount and the wall outlets?

The TVA 7000 cable cover, in black or white, takes over from the Cable Inlay System below the mount. It mounts on the wall surface and keeps cables together all the way to the furniture or sockets, without cutting a channel into the wall.

Is the mount suitable for a curved TV?

The VESA mount is the same on a curved screen, so mounting is still possible if the mounting hole spacing and weight match. However, the curved back of some models may push the screen further from the wall than the stated 40 mm in the folded position. It is best to check the depth of the TV at its mounting holes.

At what height should I drill if there is no tilt?

Positioning the centre of the screen at seated eye level remains the safest rule, generally just over a metre from the floor for a standard sofa. The DrillRight app helps mark this height on the wall before drilling. As the mount does not tilt, installing it too high can only be corrected by lowering the plate.
