A complete, compact stereo system
Play a CD, copy it to a drive, listen to a streaming service or the sound from your TV, then power a pair of speakers: everything goes through a single enclosure measuring 23 cm square. This system combines the Play CD Edition connected amplifier and the SE100, Eversolo’s first passive speakers. Both devices share the same square footprint. They form a ready-to-connect system, with no other components to choose or match.
A CD player housed in a compact amplifier
The Play comes in two versions. The CD edition adds a slot-loading Hitachi-LG optical drive, mounted on an anti-vibration suspension that stabilizes disc rotation. The enclosure retains the same dimensions, 230 × 75 × 230 mm.
The drive can also copy discs. Ripping saves tracks in FLAC or WAV to a USB storage device or network folder, along with cover art and album information. CDs then become part of the music library and can be played without the disc, from the app or screen. Eversolo’s software updates have expanded the ripping settings: reading strategy (speed, repeated passes, comparison of results), drive-specific offset correction, FLAC compression levels from 0 to 8 and an automatic ripping report.
The front panel features a 14 cm (5.5-inch) touchscreen. It displays the current track’s cover art, VU meters and settings menus.
Streaming and high-resolution files
The Play CD Edition is also a network player. It provides direct access to TIDAL, Qobuz, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, HIGHRESAUDIO, IDAGIO, Presto Music and SoundCloud, as well as Internet radio via TuneIn, Radio Paradise or Calm Radio. It is Roon Ready and plays files stored on a server or NAS (a network drive) over UPnP and DLNA. It can also stream the same music to other Eversolo devices in other rooms.
Digital-to-analog conversion is handled by an AKM AK4493SEQ chip. Over the network and USB, it supports files up to 32-bit / 768 kHz and DSD512, well beyond CD resolution. Bluetooth 5.0, limited to SBC and AAC codecs, is mainly useful for quickly connecting a phone: for the best quality, the network is the better option.
For everyday use, control is available from the screen, the Eversolo Control app (iOS and Android) or a web browser on the same local network.
Inputs for your TV, turntable and existing sources
The HDMI ARC input connects the Play to the TV with a single cable. Movies and shows then play through the SE100 in stereo, in PCM up to 24-bit / 192 kHz. The TV must be set to PCM output, as the Play does not decode Dolby or DTS multichannel streams.
A phono input accepts a turntable directly, without an external preamplifier. An RCA line input accepts another analog source (cassette deck, tuner, older player), and the optical and coaxial inputs accept a digital signal up to 24-bit / 192 kHz and DSD64. There is only one line input: two conventional analog sources cannot remain connected at the same time.
For output, a coaxial socket and the USB-A ports send the digital signal to an external converter. The subwoofer output has an adjustable crossover frequency from 40 to 500 Hz and a phase adjustment, to integrate the subwoofer properly with the speakers. A trigger input allows the Play to turn on at the same time as another device.
Class D amplification matched to the SE100
The class D power stage is based on Texas Instruments’ PurePath Ultra HD technology. A feedback loop corrects signal errors and keeps distortion very low across the entire audible range: less than 0.0037%, with a signal-to-noise ratio above 109 dB. The PFC + LLC switching power supply limits energy losses and heat, which is dissipated by a large heatsink beneath the chassis.
The Play delivers 60 W per channel into 8 ohms and 110 W into 4 ohms. The SE100 have an impedance of 4 ohms, so they receive the amplifier’s highest power output. Their sensitivity of 88 dB, meaning the sound level produced for a given voltage, makes them easy to drive. Eversolo recommends speakers rated at 85 to 88 dB and 4 or 6 ohms for the Play: the SE100 fall within this range, and within the 20 to 100 W range they can handle.
The SE100, two-way speakers in a square cabinet
The SE100 combine a 25 mm silk-dome tweeter with a neodymium magnet and a 13.34 cm mid-bass driver with a paper pulp cone. The latter’s motor is equipped with an oxygen-free copper (OFC) voice coil, for a fast response to transients and large changes in level. The two drivers divide the frequency spectrum at 2.6 kHz. The crossover, designed according to Eversolo’s BLACKEDGE CORE principle, aligns the phase and arrival time of the two sounds so they blend together to the ear.
The high-density MDF cabinet limits resonances. It has a 1:1 ratio, with a front panel measuring 290 × 290 mm and a depth of just 180 mm. These dimensions allow it to fit into an IKEA KALLAX shelving compartment. The port is positioned on the front, allowing placement near a wall or inside a compartment, where a rear port requires space behind the speaker. The fabric grilles attach magnetically and let treble pass through without attenuation.
Frequency response extends from 55 Hz to 20 kHz (±3 dB) and reaches down to 50 Hz at -6 dB. Bass is controlled, without the lowest octaves. The maximum level of 96 dB suits an office, bedroom or medium-sized living room at normal listening volumes, rather than a large room played at high levels.
Calibration and settings to adapt the sound to the room
The same pair of speakers does not sound the same on a desk, in a shelving compartment or in the middle of a living room. The evotune calibration function measures the room using a microphone (not included) and corrects the excess bass it causes. The Eversolo EM-01 USB-C microphone is compatible, and the app can load the calibration file for another measurement microphone.
For manual adjustments, the Play offers a 15-band graphic equalizer, a 10-band parametric equalizer adjustable separately for each channel and more than twenty presets.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Play CD Edition play SACDs?
No. The player plays audio CDs. Hybrid SACDs are played via their CD layer, at CD quality; the high-resolution layer is not played.
Where are ripped CDs saved?
On a flash drive or disk connected to one of the USB-A ports, or in a shared folder on the network, such as a NAS. The files then appear in the Play’s music library and remain playable on other devices.
Can you connect headphones to the Play?
There is no headphone output. To listen through headphones, you need to connect a converter with a headphone amplifier to the USB audio output or the coaxial output. The Play’s Bluetooth is used to receive music from a phone, not to send it to headphones.
Should I add a subwoofer?
It isn’t essential for music in a medium-sized room. A subwoofer becomes useful for films on the TV or in a large room, below the 50 Hz that the SE100 reach. The dedicated output and its adjustable filter allow you to cut the speakers’ bass at the chosen frequency, so the subwoofer can take over without overlap.
Can a turntable with a built-in preamp be connected to the phono input?
No, it connects to the line input with the preamp enabled. The phono input is reserved for turntables without a preamp, or with their built-in preamp disabled. Connecting an already preamplified signal to the phono input produces distorted, excessively loud sound.
Can the SE100 work with another amplifier?
Yes, these are standard passive speakers. They require an amplifier that is stable into 4 ohms, as their impedance drops to 3.2 ohms at certain frequencies. A power output of 20 to 100 W per channel is suitable. Conversely, the Play CD Edition can power another pair of speakers if the system changes.
Can the Play be controlled with the TV remote?
The Play can be controlled via its touchscreen, the Eversolo Control app or a web browser on the local network. Connected via HDMI ARC, it receives audio from all sources connected to the TV (set-top box, console, Blu-ray player) without any additional steps.
