Clearaudio Rammstein WHITE Edition, limited-edition turntable
On stage, Rammstein plays with harsh light and metal. Clearaudio has drawn on this visual language to launch its Artist Series, a collection born of collaborations with musicians. The result is a turntable with a substantial black chassis, whose platter and logo light up in cool white, with the mechanics of a German hi-fi turntable underneath. Production is limited to 1000 numbered units worldwide, supplied ready to play.
White lighting with dimmer control
The 30 mm thick solid acrylic platter is lit by LEDs and diffuses light throughout its body. The Rammstein logo on the front lights up in the same cool white, contrasting with the chassis’s metallic black lacquer. Two independent dimmers adjust the brightness: you can keep a subtle glow for late-night listening or turn up the lighting to make the turntable the room’s focal point. The controls consist of a single dial, which moves from off to lighting and then to the two speeds, 33⅓ and 45 rpm.
The chassis was designed specifically for this collaboration around the band’s visual identity, and its compact, monolithic silhouette is unlike any other model from the brand. It is built on medium-density fibreboard (MDF), a dense, low-resonance material, combined with isolation elements that limit the transmission of vibrations from the supporting surface.
Concept range mechanics beneath the black exterior
The motor, drive system, platter and playback mechanism are derived from the Concept, the turntable that forms the basis of much of the Clearaudio range. A 12 V DC motor, isolated from the chassis to prevent its vibrations from reaching the record, drives the platter via a flat belt. Its control electronics have been reworked for this edition, and measured speed accuracy reaches ± 0.05%. With such a small deviation, pitch remains stable from the beginning to the end of the side, and sustained piano notes do not waver.
The acrylic platter rests on a CNC-machined aluminium sub-platter, which rotates on a bearing combining hardened steel, sintered bronze and Teflon. The weight of the 30 mm platter gives it inertia: once spinning, it absorbs minor motor irregularities. The turntable is fully manual. You lower the tonearm onto the record using the cueing lever, and at the end of the side you need to raise it yourself, as it does not return to its rest on its own and the platter does not stop automatically.
Factory-adjusted T1 tonearm and N2 cartridge
The Clearaudio T1 tonearm, in black aluminium, is a pivoted (radial) arm with an effective length of 239.12 mm. Anti-skating, which compensates for the force naturally pulling the stylus towards the centre of the record, uses a conventional thread and suspended counterweight system, simple and easy to adjust.
The factory-fitted cartridge is an N2 MM Special Edition moving-magnet model. Its carbon-filled PETG composite body weighs just 8.5 g. It features an elliptical diamond stylus on an aluminium cantilever: finer than a conical stylus, this diamond follows the groove modulations more closely and retrieves more treble detail. Tracking force is 2.2 g and output voltage is approximately 3.3 mV, a common value for an MM cartridge, suitable for all phono inputs of this type.
The tonearm and cartridge leave the factory fitted, aligned and adjusted. Aligning a cartridge usually requires a protractor and a little patience, and this step has already been taken care of. A tracking force gauge, a spirit level, gloves and the necessary tools are nevertheless supplied to check the settings after transport.
Connections and power supply
The turntable outputs through a pair of stereo RCA sockets accompanied by a ground terminal, and the RCA cable with ground wire is supplied. It has no built-in phono preamplifier. A cartridge’s signal is very weak and must be amplified and then corrected according to a standardised equalisation curve (RIAA) before reaching the amplifier. You therefore need an amplifier with an MM phono input, or an external phono preamplifier placed between the turntable and a line input. The recommended load, 47 kΩ and 100 pF, corresponds to the standard setting for these inputs.
Power is supplied either by the 12 V mains adapter or by a USB-PD-compatible external battery. This second option runs the turntable without any connection to the household mains supply. Power consumption remains low, at 2.6 W during playback and 4.2 W maximum.
A wooden case that becomes a record storage box
Each unit comes in a wooden case made in Germany, in the Bavarian Forest. Thanks to its dividers, it can then serve as a storage box for your records beside the turntable. Two matching accessories are available separately: a clear acrylic dust cover, as the turntable is supplied without one, and a Rammstein WHITE felt platter mat.

Frequently asked questions
What distinguishes the WHITE Edition from the RED Edition?
Only the lighting colour changes: cool white on the WHITE Edition, red on the RED Edition. The metallic black chassis, mechanism, T1 tonearm, N2 cartridge and box contents are identical.
What should I do when I receive the turntable?
The tonearm and cartridge are already fitted and adjusted. All that remains is to install the turntable on a level surface using the supplied spirit level, fit the platter, belt and counterweight, then attach the anti-skating thread. Checking the tracking force with the supplied gauge (2.2 g) ensures that nothing has shifted during transport.
Does the turntable play 78 rpm records?
No. It runs at 33⅓ and 45 rpm, the two speeds used by today’s vinyl records. 78 rpm records require an additional speed and a specific, wider stylus.
What are the benefits of USB-PD battery power?
On battery power, the turntable no longer depends on the household mains supply, which carries interference generated by other appliances in the home. It is also a practical solution when no power socket is available near the hi-fi unit. Power consumption of 2.6 W during playback allows for long listening sessions with a high-capacity power bank.
Why are gloves provided?
They are used to handle the acrylic platter and lacquered surfaces without leaving fingerprints, which are always visible under low-angle lighting like that of the turntable. They are also useful for fitting the belt without getting grease on it, as a stained belt can slip and impair speed stability.
Where should it be placed?
The turntable measures 460 mm wide, 380 mm deep and 175 mm high, and weighs approximately 9.65 kg with the tonearm and cartridge. A stable, perfectly level piece of furniture is suitable, preferably away from the speakers, whose vibrations can reach the stylus at high volumes. As no dust cover is included, the turntable remains exposed to dust: the optional acrylic dust cover addresses this issue.
