The Atoll Electronique P50 MM internal phono module is an expansion card that transforms an auxiliary input into a dedicated phono input. Perfect for vinyl enthusiasts, it allows certain Atoll amplifiers and preamplifiers to be adapted without the need to invest in an external phono preamp.
Compatible with a wide range of models (IN50, IN80, IN100, IN200, IN300, IN400, PR100, PR200, PR300), the P50 MM is easy to install, whether at the time of purchase or later. Once installed, it converts an “AUX” input into a “PHONO” input, enhancing the device’s connectivity options.
At the heart of the P50 MM is a low-noise JFET operational amplifier, specifically designed for moving magnet (MM) cartridges. This technology ensures precise and faithful amplification of the signal delivered by the phono cartridge while maintaining minimal noise levels. The result is pure and detailed sound reproduction, essential for fully appreciating the warmth and unique character of vinyl recordings.
The P50 MM module boasts impressive technical specifications that reflect its high-quality design. With an input impedance of 47 kΩ, it pairs perfectly with the majority of MM cartridges on the market. Its input capacitance of 100 pF contributes to a balanced frequency response, while its 40 dB gain ensures optimal amplification of the phono signal. The total harmonic distortion (THD) of just 0.05% guarantees faithful sound reproduction without unwanted coloration.
Positioned as the entry-level option in Atoll’s phono card lineup, the P50 MM offers excellent value for money. It is an ideal solution for beginner audiophiles or those looking to explore the world of vinyl without a significant investment. Its performance is particularly well-suited to entry-level and mid-range turntables, allowing users to get the best out of their equipment without compromising on sound quality.
The ability to add the P50 MM module perfectly illustrates Atoll Electronique’s modular and scalable approach. This flexibility allows users to adapt their equipment to their evolving needs and musical preferences. For those looking to go further, Atoll also offers the P100 card, a more advanced option that provides compatibility with MC cartridges and advanced configuration options.
The P50 MM has been designed to integrate invisibly into the host device. Once installed, the card does not alter the external aesthetics of the amplifier or preamplifier. This visual discretion is complemented by meticulous electronic integration, ensuring that adding the module does not affect the overall performance of the device but rather enhances it.
The P50 MM card is designed for easy installation and can generally be done by the user. However, it is recommended to consult your Atoll dealer or a qualified technician to ensure proper installation and maintain your device’s warranty.
No, the P50 MM card is specifically designed for MM (moving magnet) cartridges. For MC cartridges, Atoll offers the P100 card, which is compatible with both types of cartridges.
The P50 MM card is specifically designed for Atoll devices. Its use with equipment from other brands is not recommended and may not be possible due to differences in internal design.
The P50 MM card offers perfect integration and a short signal path, which can reduce interference. An external preamp may provide more flexibility and adjustment options but at the cost of an additional connection and increased space requirements.

Meh! It’s almost mediocre, flat, tasteless. Well, for the price it does the job, but it’s not great. I don’t know if the P100 is higher quality; if not, I’m going to look into an external preamp. Too bad, that’s going to mean even more cables...

Too bad this wasn’t included from the start in the ATOLL IN200 amplifier, considering its price!
