Overview

The AV7701 preamplifier is a new addition to this year’s collection. It is extremely versatile and expertly handles all high-resolution audio formats to perfection. It is also compatible with music streaming from virtually any network device: PCs, Internet radios, Android smartphones/tablets, “Play To” function in Windows 7, and AirPlay from iTunes and iDevices. All of this is delivered with superb audio quality, as all audio signals are processed by an independent DSP processor for all channels.

The 7.2 channels thus remain fully separated, with no risk of interference (“crosstalk”). Moreover, the AV7701 goes even further in respecting audio quality, thanks to Marantz’s exclusive HDAM amplification technology in a “Current Feedback” topology. The signals then pass through the XLR outputs to the external power amplifiers.

The AV7701 also perfectly respects 3D and 4k video signals arriving on its 7 HDMI inputs, even in Standby mode, and sends them to the two HDMI outputs that can be used simultaneously or to a third, independent output for Multiroom applications. Lower resolution video signals can also be upscaled to 4k format.

The AV7701 even has an MM (moving magnet) Phono input, ideal for vinyl record enthusiasts. It supports all the latest audio formats, including Audyssey DSX, thanks to a 32-bit SHARC Analog Devices DSP. Configuration and use are quick and easy, thanks to the MultEQ XT auto-calibration function and the high-resolution user interface.
