Advanced UHC-MOS Single Push-Pull Circuit

To deliver a balanced sound between subtle and dynamic, the PMA-2500NE features a UHC-MOS (Ultra High Current-MOS) FET that creates sufficient current in a single push-pull configuration, from musical delicacy to robust current. It provides powerful linearity of the output stage over the entire sound range. The multi-amplifier control technology that parallels robust currents solves the problem of cloud formation caused by performance gaps between devices. Denon is also continuously interested in amplification achieved by a pair of instruments to express the subtle nuances of sound. The PMA-2500NE is equipped with a high-capacity, high-capacity UHC-MOS FET (peak current 210A). The dual FET + cascade bootstrip connection also improves temperature safety while maintaining the constant voltage of the UHC-MOS, thus providing the powerful acoustic characteristics of the UHC-MOS.

High-Speed Thermal Feedback Circuit

In addition to the UHC-MOS transistors and temperature compensation of the power amplifier, the PMA-2500NE is equipped with a transistor that transfers heat to a radiator (copper plate) in the drive stage of the power amplifier. All devices involved in idle current heat transfer make the idle current more stable, thereby improving the clarity and stability of the sound.

High Gain Amplifier Structure

For a more direct signal path, the amplifier circuit has been replaced by a two-stage traditional configuration with a single-stage high-gain power amplifier. Sound is reproduced in high quality by reducing the number of devices traversed by the audio signal and shortening the signal path as much as possible. The protection circuit of the power amplifier output stage has also been improved. To enhance the real-time monitoring system of power transistor temperature variations, the current capacity of the drive stage transistor has been increased from 1.5 A to 2.0 A by removing the current limiter. As a result, the amplifier’s instantaneous power capacity is approximately doubled (110 A) compared to conventional designs, and speaker maneuverability is significantly improved (damping factor: 700 or more, 20 Hz to 20 kHz).

DC Amplifier Circuit

From input to output, all active servo circuits and coupling capacitors have been eliminated to achieve a “simple and orderly” circuit design. For the amplifier circuit where DC is very stable, a simple passive circuit with a capacitor and resistor is used in the DC servo circuit. It also re-examines the FET differential input amplifier circuits using dual FET + cascaded bootstrap connections to improve DC characteristics and provide more stable reproduction at lower ranges than conventional designs.

Robust Power Supply

The PMA-2500NE features two transformers mounted in the opposite direction of the LC mounting system, thus eliminating the mutual influence of magnetic flux, noise sources, and transformer leakage. Denon’s high-capacity electrolytic capacitors are used for rectification, low loss, and low noise, while fast Schottky barrier diodes are used in the rectifier circuits. This provides ample clean current supply. For a “simple and orderly” circuit configuration, the connection unit between the diode unit and the block capacitor has been removed, significantly reducing the power amplifier’s current supply line. Extremely thick OFC wiring is used for the power lines to reduce impedance.

6-Block Chassis Configuration

The PMA-2500NE chassis consists of six individual blocks: a phono equalizer, an input circuit, a volume control circuit, a USB-DAC circuit, an amplifier circuit, a power supply, and a controller. The chassis is made of 1.6mm thick steel plate to protect the signal circuit from external vibrations and eliminate the effects of mutual interference between circuits.
