The RCD-1572 offers higher performance because it uses a specific integrated CD playback mechanism and improved electronic circuits. Among the most notable components of the RCD-1572 is a Wolfson WM8740 stereo digital-to-analog converter and filter. Originally developed for high-resolution sources, it is the result of extensive research and real-world listening tests, and processes digital signals up to 24-bit depth with sampling rates from 8 kHz to 192 kHz.

Although the bit depth and sampling frequency may seem very high compared to the requirements for playing an Audio CD, in which the data has been digitized at much lower values, this very high processing speed provides a significant reserve to ensure perfect reproduction of the audio signal under all circumstances. Considered the most crucial link between the digital data on the CD and the analog world in which our listening takes place, this converter has outstanding characteristics, in addition to its superb high-resolution decoding capabilities.

The analog processing circuits, beyond the converter, benefit from all the experience Rotel has gained over several decades in developing the best possible connection between the internal output of the DAC and the RCA and XLR output jacks on the rear panel, from which the RCD-1572 can be connected to downstream elements of the audio system. All the components of these analog circuits - resistors, capacitors, inductors - are chosen only after their positive contribution to sound quality has been proven, quantified, and verified qualitatively through long and numerous listening sessions.

All these circuits rely on a power supply based on an oversized, custom-designed toroidal transformer, precisely manufactured by Rotel, which in turn powers precision rectifier bridges, tight-tolerance voltage regulators, and advanced low-ESR Slit-Foil capacitors. All these elements have been duly selected to ensure highly accurate musical performance under the most demanding conditions.
