Of all the DLP projector components, the color wheel has the most effect on colors. Achieving a perfect balance between color accuracy and brightness requires great meticulousness and rigorous quality control. BenQ’s CinematicColor uses nanometer-precise references to test over 20 combinations of color wheel angle and coating. Even at the nanometer scale, a small difference can alter the color spectrum. Each color wheel is designed with ultra-pure color coatings to conform to Rec. 709 color gamut standards and reproduce the visuals of Hollywood films.
Each CinematicColor™ projector is tested and adjusted using specific instruments and software to deliver high accuracy in terms of D65 color temperature, gamma, black levels, white levels, neutral grays, RGBCMY color tracking, hue, saturation, brightness, and net output color from various interfaces based on the ITU-R Rec. 709 standard. By collecting all the data from individual CinematicColor factory calibration reports, we are the only ones to apply such high standards in terms of color gamut and gamma calibration.
