Solid 10% Silver Conductors

Solid conductors eliminate strand interaction distortion and reduce jitter. Solid silver-plated conductors are ideal for very high-frequency applications, because high-frequency signals travel almost exclusively on the surface of the conductor. Since the surface is made of high-purity silver, the performance is very close to that of a solid silver cable, but priced much closer to solid copper cable. It’s an extraordinarily cost-effective way of manufacturing very high-quality cables for extreme high-end applications.

Hard-Cell Foam Nitrogen-Injected Insulation

Hard-Cell Foam Nitrogen-Injected Insulation is used exclusively on most of AudioQuest’s digital audio and video cables. Similar to Foamed PE, the nitrogen gas pockets are formed by injecting nitrogen. The “hard” foam is used because the stiffness of the material allows the cable’s conductors to maintain a stable relative position to each other along the full length of the cable, which ensures consistent cable impedance.

100% Coverage Shield (Foil + Tinned Braid)

While shielding always plays an important role in the design of any cable, the shield for coaxial connectors is particularly critical because in addition to providing protection, it also serves as the return path conductor. For this reason, AudioQuest pays special attention to the quality of the shield’s metal and manufacturing techniques because they can affect both sound and picture performance.

Dielectric-Bias System (DBS)

Any insulation slows down the signal inside the conductor. When insulation is unbiased, it slows down parts of the signal differently, a big problem for very time-sensitive multi-octave audio. AudioQuest’s DBS creates a strong, stable electrostatic field which saturates and polarizes (organizes) the molecules of the insulation. This minimizes both energy storage in the insulation and the multiple nonlinear time delays that occur. Sound appears from a surprisingly black background with unexpected detail and dynamic contrast. DBS battery packs will last for years. A test button and LED allow for occasional battery check.
