An optimized coaxial design for in-wall installation

The SECRET EMT7 features a coaxial architecture, with a 25 mm natural silk dome tweeter positioned at the center of the 170 mm woofer-midrange driver. This concentric configuration offers several decisive advantages for a ceiling speaker. The single point of emission ensures perfect temporal coherence between frequency ranges, while sound dispersion remains uniform regardless of the listener’s position in the room.

The woofer-midrange driver uses a polypropylene cone, chosen for its rigidity and lightness. This combination delivers an extended bass response down to 55 Hz, while maintaining remarkable speed in the midrange. The tweeter, equipped with a phase plug, extends the response up to 20 kHz with controlled directivity. This phase plug focuses sound waves toward the listening area, compensating for the natural distance of a ceiling-mounted speaker.

The passive crossover is set at 3500 Hz, a frequency carefully chosen to avoid directivity issues with the woofer-midrange at higher frequencies. Triangle has opted for full filtering of both drivers, ensuring a smooth transition between frequency ranges and preserving tonal coherence.

Easy Mounting technology: a completely reimagined installation

The Easy Mounting system is the main technological breakthrough of the SECRET EMT7. Developed in collaboration with a composite materials specialist, this patented mechanism radically transforms the installation of an in-wall speaker. Whereas traditional models require screwing in four mounting brackets—arms raised and head tilted back—the SECRET EMT7 is installed with a simple quarter-turn rotation.

The principle relies on composite clips that automatically deploy as the speaker is rotated. These elements clamp the wall, whether it’s plasterboard, wood, or any other material between 12 and 25 mm thick. The pressure applied ensures a firm hold without risk of crushing the support. To remove the speaker, simply rotate it in the opposite direction.

This innovation solves several recurring problems: no more contorting to reach mounting screws, no risk of the speaker falling during installation, and guaranteed optimal tightening without damaging the support. The time savings are considerable, especially when installing multiple speakers for an Atmos system.

Versatile use and fine adjustments

The SECRET EMT7 adapts to multiple configurations thanks to its adjustment options. Two selectors allow you to independently adjust the bass and treble levels in three positions: 0, -2, and -4 dB. These attenuations compensate for acoustic effects related to placement: installation near a room corner naturally boosts the bass, while a highly reflective ceiling may require a reduction in treble.

The adjustable tweeter is a major asset for optimizing the listening area. In a traditional stereo setup, it should be aimed at the main listening point. For multiroom or ambient speaker use, a central position broadens sound coverage. In a home theater Atmos setup, orientation depends on placement: vertical for ceiling effects, angled for high side speakers.

With a sensitivity of 90 dB/W/m and a nominal impedance of 8 ohms (never dropping below 6.9 ohms), the SECRET EMT7 is not demanding in terms of amplification. An entry-level home theater amplifier is sufficient to make it sing properly. Its power handling of 140 watts allows for substantial sound levels, suitable for large rooms or commercial installations.

Practical installation and refined finish

Installation requires a circular cutout of 202 mm in diameter and a minimum mounting depth of 85 mm. These compact dimensions make integration easy in most suspended ceilings and hollow partitions. The supplied cutting template ensures precise cutting.

The ultra-thin magnetic grille snaps on instantly and can be removed without tools to access the controls. Its smooth surface can be painted, allowing for total visual integration. The flush frame minimizes protrusion, with the speaker extending only a few millimeters from the ceiling.

Triangle offers the SECRET EMT7 with either a white or black grille, depending on your needs. The total diameter of 230 mm remains discreet while providing enough radiating surface for quality sound reproduction.
