Superb projector! Being (for the moment) in a living room with white walls, I was afraid that the contrast improved compared to my VPL-HW50ES would be degraded by this environment. Well, not at all, the blacks are impressive! Moreover, the colors have an incredible fidelity (they have a super-realistic side)! I installed it in a living room with a 2.4m base screen but it's not ideal because it's rather intended for a dedicated room (super imposing 8-] and the ventilation is a bit noisy during periods of silence during a movie). Of course, it won't match the HDR of an HDR TV but its HDR is already very impressive! I also chose it because it does 3D and 3D on Sony's new range starts at a price of 15,000 euros with the VPL-XW7000. I don't regret my purchase at all!

Superbe projecteur !

A fairly large unit (50x50x23cm) weighing 20kg to be placed at the back of the room. Very easy to position thanks to its motorized lens (5 memory positions/settings). The laser provides a truly bright and stable image over time. It's a far cry from lamps whose brightness diminishes with use and requires readjustment. To reduce the ventilation noise that was a bit too noticeable for my taste, I lowered the laser power. At 80%, the projector becomes discreet. Since my projection screen is only 2 meters wide, I reduced the laser to 60%. At times, it's almost too bright when displaying a white screen! On the other hand, the black level is very, very good. Excellent image dynamics.
HDR requires fine-tuning the settings of both the player and the projector.
With a Panasonic UB9000, it's simpler thanks to the Pana's HDR Optimizer.
The result is outstanding: it's at least as good as the cinema!
