Each year, dozens of European journalists gather to select the best electronic products of the year. Awarded by a diverse and impartial jury, the EISA (Expert Imaging and Sound Association) awards recognize exceptional products for their performance, design, or ergonomics.
The R100 speaker, which offers exceptional sound and good value for money, is equipped with the one-inch Pinnacle tweeter and the 5.25-inch Turbine cone from the flagship Legend range, ensuring the renowned clarity and reproduction. This speaker, with its minimalist design, blends seamlessly into any decor. Polk’s new patented X-Port technology delivers deep, distortion-free bass compared to speakers with conventional ports.
With its understated elegance, the Reserve range features a minimalist design that appeals to everyone. Equipped with Polk’s superior quality transducers, the R100 speaker produces exceptional sound that rivals speakers sold at twice the price.
Polk’s newly patented X-Port technology incorporates an Eigentone Filter (ETF) for distortion-free bass. It consists of specially designed closed-pipe absorbers that capture and eliminate distortions found in conventional speakers. With X-Port technology, the upper bass and midrange frequencies have no port or cabinet resonance, resulting in a smooth and detailed sound.
Your sound should be as good as the original. With Hi-Res Audio certification, the Polk Reserve R100 delivers clear, detailed, and high-end sound reproduction. Female voices are particularly smooth, exceptionally clear, and free from coloration. Additionally, extended support up to 40 kHz allows for perfect reproduction of the latest Hi-Res music files with enhanced audio extension.
In summary, the Polk Reserve 100 bookshelf speakers are extremely easy to live with and have all the qualities of larger speakers. And with their reasonable price point, they are a must-have for anyone looking for a pair of relatively discreet stereo speakers without sacrificing performance. As already mentioned, they are also ideal for use as surround speakers in a Polk Reserve multi-channel setup.
"While the Reserve line uses the same transducers as our Legend line, it also features entirely new elements, such as the new patent-pending X-Port filter and innovative cabinet design technology engineered to minimize unwanted resonances," said Scott Orth, Director of Audio and Acoustical Systems at Polk Audio. "The result is a remarkably balanced, quintessential Polk Audio speaker with an expansive soundstage, detailed sonic imaging, smooth midrange, and deep, natural bass."

Great speakers, better than the r200 but they do their job.

On the manufacturing side, these are very beautiful speakers. On the technical feat side, there is work to be done. In terms of sound, I think they are very good for home cinema, but on the Hi-Fi side, look elsewhere.
They are beautiful and powerful, with deep audible bass. The sound is energetic, you can crank up the watts and they deliver. Personally, I did not like their sound or timbre which emphasizes the mids and muffles the highs, which top out at 7 kHz maximum. You have to listen to them, you either like them or you don't. After all, it's subjective depending on the equipment used.
