Finding an amplifier that matches what you're looking for is like running an obstacle course, given the number of options on the market.
I was looking for a replacement for my very good "little" Rotel A11, and after scouring the specifications of many amplifiers and listening to a few without finding what I wanted, I opted for this RA1572MKII.
It's difficult to give an objective opinion on an amplifier since the sound depends on so many factors such as the speakers, the sources, the room acoustics, etc.
For me, the ROTEL sound suits me perfectly, and I'm not at all disappointed in that regard.
The overall rendering is very smooth, very clear, and detailed.
The highs offer great clarity without ever being aggressive or fatiguing, and the mids are very well balanced for someone like me who doesn't like them too prominent.
The bass is a bit subdued, but that's due to my speakers, and it's possible to adjust the bass and treble to compensate.
If I had to find a negative point, I'd say I'd like a tiny bit less smoothness to have a little more punch.
The DAC is of very good quality.
In terms of construction, it exudes quality (except perhaps the plastic volume knob).
On the practical side, a nice screen allows you to visualize the volume, the selected input, and easily navigate the menu.
The volume knob is extremely well calibrated, allowing for very precise adjustment at low volumes for nighttime listening.
