The iFi Audio GO Link transforms smartphones, tablets, and computers into high-fidelity audio sources thanks to its ESS ES9219 DAC and built-in headphone amplifier. This ultra-compact 11-gram converter decodes files up to DSD 256 and PCM 384 kHz, while delivering 70 mW at 32 Ω to power headphones and earphones with precision.
The GO Link features a modular two-part design connected by a flexible 6 cm cable. The USB-C connector plugs directly into the source device, while the DAC/amplifier module houses the circuits in a magnesium alloy casing.
This design allows the DAC module to be oriented toward the user while reducing strain on the USB port. Silver-plated copper conductors, twisted in pairs, optimize transmission and reject electromagnetic interference.
With dimensions of 135 × 12.6 × 7.6 mm and weighing just 11 grams, the GO Link slips discreetly into a pocket. A multicolor LED indicates the audio format being processed (PCM, DSD, or MQA), allowing you to instantly check the quality of the stream.
iFi Audio has chosen the ESS ES9219 converter, a Sabre HiFi chip featuring 32-bit HyperStream III architecture. This marks a shift from the usual Burr-Brown chips, while retaining iFi’s signature warm sound.
The ES9219 integrates Quad DAC+ technology, harnessed by iFi’s proprietary S-Balanced circuit. The Time Domain Jitter Eliminator removes timing fluctuations, while the crystal oscillator ensures precise clocking via the femto-second GMT system.
The Dynamic Range Enhancement function improves dynamic range by 6 dB, bringing performance up to 122 dB. This enhancement offers greater contrast between loud and soft passages, giving more depth to musical nuances.
The amplification stage uses S-Balanced technology, leveraging the Quad DAC architecture to reduce noise and crosstalk on the standard 3.5 mm output. This approach improves channel separation and signal clarity.
Power output reaches 70 mW at 32 Ω and 2.05 V at 600 Ω, far surpassing the headphone outputs of mobile devices. Volume control is handled directly within the DAC chip, preserving audio resolution at all levels.
TDK C0G and muRata capacitors contribute to signal stability, minimizing distortion and unwanted coloration.
The GO Link natively processes PCM up to 32-bit/384 kHz, DSD up to DSD256, and MQA. This compatibility covers all current digital sources, from local files to streaming services.
USB-C connectivity is complemented by included USB-A and Lightning adapters for extended use. Power is drawn directly from the USB port, with moderate consumption of 0.2 W at idle and a maximum of 1 W.
Despite the ultra-compact form factor, iFi Audio manages to incorporate some of its signature features. The most notable is the adoption of an S-Balanced amplification circuit, whose structure resembles balanced amplification while remaining compatible with standard TRS/TRRS (stereo) jack terminations. This circuit is supported by what the brand calls Dynamic Range Enhancement technology, which is said to provide a 6 dB boost in dynamic range.
The GO Link works with any device equipped with a USB-C port that supports USB Audio standards. The included adapters allow use with Lightning devices (iPhone/iPad) and USB-A devices (older computers). Some Android smartphones may require developer mode to be enabled for proper operation.
The 70 mW output at 32 Ω is perfectly suited for portable headphones and in-ear monitors. For high-impedance home headphones (300 Ω and above), the GO Link provides 14 mW at 300 Ω, sufficient for moderate use but not optimal for the most demanding models.
Basic adapters use the source device’s built-in DAC, which is often of limited quality. The GO Link features its own high-performance DAC and dedicated amplifier, completely offloading audio processing from the source device and delivering superior performance.

Manuel
Excellent DAC/AMP with an unbeatable Price/Quality ratio. It noticeably improves any portable device such as a Phone, Tablet, Laptop,... and even handles demanding headphones thanks to its good Power reserve. Clean, detailed sound with a very linear response.
If your budget allows it... don't hesitate to get the ifi Go Link MAX, and if you can stretch a little further, use the Balanced Cable connection and expand the soundstage. A true little sound monster.

Sound is good, volume is sufficient for low-impedance headphones. However, the device gets quite warm during operation.
