TEAC VRDS-701: A High-End CD Player
The TEAC VRDS-701 is a high-end CD player launched to commemorate the 70th anniversary of TEAC’s founding. This model embodies TEAC’s strengths and puts innovation at the forefront, including a newly developed VRDS mechanism. The VRDS-701 is designed to capture all the information needed to hear music as it was intended.
Innovative VRDS Mechanism
The initials VRDS stand for Vibration-free Rigid Disc-clamping System, indicating the use of TEAC’s proprietary CD transport design. This mechanism reduces rotational vibration of the disc itself as well as unwanted vibration of the mechanism by clamping the CD onto an aluminum turntable of the same diameter, maximizing the inertial mass to stabilize rotation.
Advanced Functionality
The TEAC VRDS-701 features a meticulously designed 32-bit discrete ΔΣ (Delta Sigma) DAC, engineered to deliver enhanced signal-to-noise ratio and unparalleled audio fidelity. Each channel operates in monaural mode, offering native DSD512 (22.5MHz) and PCM 384kHz/32-bit playback capabilities, ensuring that every nuance of your music is captured with absolute clarity.
Optimized Dual Mono Configuration
By adopting independent left and right toroidal core transformers, our indulgent dual mono configuration is exhaustively applied, starting from the power supply circuit, passing through the D/A converter section, and reaching the analog output stage. This configuration incorporates two distinct sets of circuits, providing complete mono paths for each channel. This approach prevents interference between left and right signals, thereby fostering an immersive musical reproduction that emphasizes the perception of sound space and three-dimensionality.
Fully Balanced Transmission at All Stages
Fully balanced transmission of left and right analog output signals, from the D/A conversion process to the final output stage, plays a crucial role in significantly improving the signal-to-noise ratio and extending the dynamic range. This approach ensures the integral preservation of the characteristic air sensation of high-resolution audio sources, even when played from a computer as a USB DAC, guaranteeing exceptional sound quality.
Dual High-Precision Clocks
The player is equipped with low phase noise, high-precision crystal oscillators, supporting not only the standard 44.1 kHz frequency for CD playback but also a 48 kHz clock required when playing files from a computer in USB DAC mode. This dual clock ensures accurate synchronization and faithful reproduction of the audio signal, thus providing an optimal listening experience.
Refined Design
The VRDS-701’s solid build quality is complemented by its sophisticated design, featuring decorative metal feet designed to disperse vibrations and a floating mounting system for the VRDS transport to decouple it from the chassis. Its aesthetics are both functional and visually appealing, making it a centerpiece in any audio setup.
