The Ace Center Wireless is a wireless central speaker designed and manufactured by Piega, a renowned Swiss specialist in high-end speakers. This model complements Piega’s Ace Wireless range, which also includes the Ace 30 bookshelf speakers and the Ace 50 floor-standing speakers. The Ace Center Wireless is designed to provide optimal reproduction of dialogues and voices in a wireless multi-channel home theater system, up to 7.1 format.

Design and Construction

The design of the Ace Center Wireless was entrusted to Swiss designer Stephan Hürlemann. It features a distinctive oval shape with an elegant aluminum cabinet sealed almost invisibly. Despite its refined aesthetics that catch the eye, this speaker blends discreetly into the decor. Its compact dimensions of 34 x 14 x 16 cm allow it to fit easily under a television.

The aluminum construction, Piega’s material of choice, provides great rigidity and stability to the cabinet to avoid any unwanted vibrations. Three finishes are available: natural sandblasted aluminum with a gray fabric grille, anodized black with a black grille, or glossy white lacquer with a white grille. The black and white versions benefit from a sandblasting surface treatment that gives them a high-end look and feel.

Speakers and Amplification

The Ace Center Wireless uses Piega’s characteristic AMT (Air Motion Transformer) ribbon tweeter. This tweeter ensures crystal-clear reproduction of high frequencies with great precision. It is supported by two 120 mm MDS mid-woofers, specially enhanced for this speaker. This 3-way configuration allows for near-perfect dialogue reproduction.

Each speaker is powered by its own built-in digital amplifier, with a total power of 100W. A DSP (digital signal processor) handles the audio signal processing for fine-tuned performance optimization. The frequency response ranges from 35 Hz to 25 kHz.

Integration into a Wireless Multi-Channel System

In combination with other speakers from the Ace Wireless range (Ace 30 and Ace 50), the Ace Center Wireless allows for the creation of a very high-end wireless home theater system, up to a 7.1 configuration. Audio transmission between the speakers is done via the WiSA (Wireless Speaker and Audio) protocol, which allows for a 24-bit / 96 kHz lossless and latency-free connection.

Each Ace Wireless speaker is available in two versions:

TX (transmitter): transmits the wireless audio signal to other speakers. Features extensive connectivity (HDMI eARC, optical, coaxial, RCA, Ethernet).
RX (receiver): receives the wireless audio signal transmitted by a TX speaker or a WiSA-certified device. Simplified connectivity.

The Ace Center Wireless is only available in the RX version. In a home theater system, it will therefore be paired with a pair of Ace 30 or Ace 50 TX speakers that will handle the wireless transmission.

Settings and Calibration

A switch allows you to adjust the bass response of the Ace Center Wireless depending on its positioning in the room (in a corner, against a wall, in free space).

Symmetrical input/output terminals on an RJ45 connector are also present for wired connection to other Piega speakers.

Finally, a USB port allows for software updates to benefit from potential improvements.
