WISA
WiSA (Wireless Speaker and Audio) is a hardware and software standard that enables the wireless transmission of high-resolution digital audio from a source to up to 8 speakers. This technology was developed by the WiSA Association, which brings together more than 60 consumer electronics manufacturers such as LG, Klipsch, Bang & Olufsen, etc.
Key features
- Wireless, uncompressed audio transmission up to 24 bits / 96 kHz across 8 channels
- Very low latency (2.6 to 5.2 ms) ensuring perfect audio/video synchronization
- Speaker synchronization within ±2 μs
- Easy installation and use (no cables, automatic pairing)
- Compatibility with 3D audio formats such as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X
Use
To use WiSA, you need a compatible “WiSA Ready” source (requiring an external transmitter) or “WiSA Certified” (with built-in transmitter), as well as WiSA-certified speakers. This system eliminates the need for a traditional AV receiver.
WiSA dramatically simplifies the installation of a high-end multichannel home theater system by eliminating cables while maintaining optimal sound quality. It is currently the only standard designed specifically for high-definition wireless audio transmission.
