The TX-RZ30 is the latest addition to Onkyo’s high-end RZ range of home theater amplifiers. With 9 amplified channels delivering 100W each, it offers exceptional power and dynamic range to immerse you in your favorite movies and TV shows. Compatible with 3D audio formats Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, it delivers immersive sound with striking precision and realism for a true cinema experience at home.
Thanks to its wide bandwidth from 5 Hz to 100 kHz, the TX-RZ30 reproduces the tiniest sonic details, from the deepest rumbles to the most crystalline highs. Its low-noise design with custom power transformers and audiophile-grade capacitors ensures a pure, transparent sound.
To get the most out of its performance, the TX-RZ30 features Dirac Live automatic calibration technology. Using advanced algorithms and microphone measurements, Dirac Live analyzes your room’s acoustics and finely optimizes speaker response for a perfectly balanced and precise sound at the listening position.
The full version of Dirac Live is included, enabling correction across the entire frequency range (20 Hz–20 kHz). An optional Dirac Live Bass Control upgrade is available for even more refined low-frequency management.
The TX-RZ30 carries IMAX Enhanced and THX Certified Select badges, hallmarks of impeccable sound quality. IMAX Enhanced certification ensures faithful, immersive playback of IMAX-remastered soundtracks with extraordinary dynamics and spatialization.
THX certification guarantees that the amplifier meets strict sound quality standards, with high power output, low distortion, and wide dynamic range for sound worthy of the best movie theaters.
On the video side, the TX-RZ30 is equipped with 6 HDMI inputs, 3 of which are HDMI 2.1 compatible. It supports 8K/60p and 4K/120p video signals, as well as VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode), QFT (Quick Frame Transport), and QMS (Quick Media Switching) technologies for a smooth, responsive gaming experience on next-gen consoles. The TX-RZ30 also supports the latest HDR formats such as HDR10+ and Dolby Vision for images with stunning contrast and color.
In addition to its HDMI 2.1 inputs, the TX-RZ30 packs numerous features to delight gamers and home theater enthusiasts. Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) reduces input-to-display lag for optimal responsiveness.
QFT (Quick Frame Transport) shortens image transmission time for smoother gameplay. The Klipsch Optimizer mode, the result of a collaboration between Onkyo and the speaker manufacturer, fine-tunes the amp’s settings for perfect synergy with Klipsch Premiere speakers.
The TX-RZ30 is a true connected entertainment hub. Compatible with Wi‑Fi, AirPlay 2, and Chromecast built-in, it lets you easily stream music from a smartphone, tablet, or computer.
It supports major streaming services including Spotify, Amazon Music HD, Tidal, Deezer, and TuneIn. Roon Certified and “Works with Sonos,” it integrates seamlessly into a premium multiroom audio system.
Finally, thanks to its pre-out outputs and speaker terminals dedicated to Zone 2 and 3, it can power two additional rooms besides the main room, with the option to play different sources in each zone.
Is the TX-RZ30 compatible with Dolby Atmos speakers?
Yes, the TX-RZ30 is fully compatible with the Dolby Atmos 3D audio format. It offers 9 channels of amplification that can be configured as 5.2.4 or 7.2.2 to achieve realistic height effects. You can also use Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers that bounce sound off the ceiling to virtually recreate height channels.
What are the main differences between the TX-RZ30 and the TX-RZ50?
Within Onkyo’s RZ lineup, the TX-RZ30 is positioned as a more affordable version of the TX-RZ50. The key differences are output power (100 W/channel versus 120 W/channel for the RZ50), the absence of ESS Sabre DACs, and the number of HDMI 2.1 inputs (3 versus 6). Otherwise, both models offer very similar features, whether for 3D audio formats, Dirac Live calibration, or streaming functions.
Is the TX-RZ30 compatible with voice assistants like Google Assistant or Alexa?
Yes, the TX-RZ30 can be voice-controlled via Google Assistant and Siri. You can easily control audio playback, switch inputs, or adjust the volume without using the remote. It is not directly compatible with Amazon Alexa for now.

Very good amplifier, once the settings are done.
The device is nevertheless complex to get to grips with and the features are numerous.
It took me several days to get it working properly and get the best out of it.
Dirac calibration considerably improves the sound. That is THE real strength of the amplifier.
To use the calibration optimally, it is best to go through a PC, which makes it possible to adjust the response curves. As the proposed flat curve did not suit me, I raised the bass level.
The phone app is much more limited and does not allow this, or at least I did not find how.
You can save 3 equalization curves in the amplifier after the measurement.
The amplifier manages, equalizes and aligns the phase of two subwoofers, unlike most other amplifiers that make do with a simple Y on the LFE output.
The result is a perfectly controlled bass range and one that is completely integrated with my floorstanding speakers.
To sum up, a very good audio-video amplifier.
Very good results in hi-fi too for the same reason, the Dirac acoustic processing.
In stereo in 2+2 (floorstanding speakers and subwoofers), the result is better than with my Marantz PM7004 amplifier.
Small bonus, the phono input is good.
As you have understood, I am a fan and do not regret my purchase at all; better still, I recommend it.
