The 17-inch driver features a fiberglass composite cone, a long-throw catenary rubber surround, and a toroidal ferrite motor. This combination enables deep bass reproduction, with the ported PB17-Ultra model reaching frequencies as low as 12 Hz. These specifications are engineered to deliver accurate frequency response and maintain acoustic linearity.

The STA-2800D dual mono-block Class D amplifier with discrete MOSFET output stage is the sonic muscle behind this most powerful and accurate SVS subwoofer amplifier ever developed. Each amplifier drives one of the voice coils for precise control and maximum power. Eight 60A 200V MOSFETs deliver extreme high current for reference-level output with maximum efficiency.

An optimized high-performance switching power supply

Whatever power is provided by the electrical circuit, the PB17-Ultra R|Evolution always maintains optimal performance and remains insensitive to voltage fluctuations. A built-in AC line conditioner filters and stabilizes the input voltage, corrects waveform distortion and eliminates electromagnetic and radio interference to optimize signal quality. Power factor correction (PFC) synchronizes AC voltage and current, reducing heat, improving efficiency and allowing rated power to be maintained over a wide voltage range.

Orchestrating this ecosystem of state-of-the-art amplifier, motor and driver is the most sophisticated DSP ever deployed in a consumer subwoofer. It precisely shapes in-room frequency response, stabilizes the AC power supply and continuously monitors temperature, voltage and current to ensure maximum efficiency and output. Advanced digital audio processing and DACs with a 120 dB signal-to-noise ratio deliver greater headroom, lower noise and pristine fidelity.

The smartphone control app, now with automatic room correction

Compatible with iOS, Android and Fire, the SVS app enables convenient subwoofer setup and management via comprehensive controls (volume, low-pass filter, phase, parametric EQs, port tuning modes, power management, etc.). Three savable presets allow the system to be quickly adapted to listening preferences.

The new automatic room correction feature uses the smartphone’s microphone and the SVS app to measure the subwoofer’s acoustic performance in the room and automatically calculate EQ filters that optimize the frequency response at the listening position. A simple multi-step process for significant improvements. Available soon via an over-the-air update.
