Audio-Technica AT-LP60XBT: Automatic Bluetooth Turntable

The AT-LP60XBT is a fully automatic belt-drive turntable that combines analog playback with Bluetooth transmission. It features a switchable phono preamplifier, a Dual Moving Magnet cartridge with replaceable diamond stylus, and a Bluetooth transmitter compatible with aptX. Designed for easy setup, it targets users who want to listen to their record collection with minimal adjustments, while retaining the option of a wired connection.

Vinyl without installation hassle

The AT-LP60XBT operates fully automatically. A Start button begins platter rotation, positions the tonearm on the lead-in groove, and lowers the stylus. At the end of the record, the arm lifts and returns to its rest. A Cue button also allows you to manually raise or lower the arm to select a specific passage.

This automation greatly simplifies record handling, especially for those new to vinyl or who prefer to avoid the delicate operations required by a manual tonearm. The size selector (30 cm or 17 cm) automatically adjusts the drop point of the arm according to the record diameter. The 33⅓ and 45 RPM speeds are changed via a front-panel switch.

Wireless transmission with aptX codec

The built-in Bluetooth module supports aptX, aptX Adaptive, and SBC codecs. The first two offer significantly better transmission quality than standard SBC, with a data rate close to CD quality when the receiving device is compatible. Pairing is simple: hold down the Bluetooth button until the LED flashes rapidly, then activate pairing mode on the speaker or headphones. Once connected, the indicator changes to solid blue.

Up to eight devices can be stored, allowing you to switch quickly between different listening systems. The range reaches about ten meters with no obstacles. This flexibility supports varied setups: turntable in the living room with headphone listening in the next room, or streaming to a portable speaker on the patio in good weather.

Wired output and built-in phono preamp

A wired connection is still available via a 3.5 mm mini-jack output paired with a supplied cable to dual RCA. A PHONO/LINE switch on the back adapts the signal to the destination equipment. In LINE position, the built-in phono preamplifier applies the RIAA equalization curve and boosts the signal (150 mV nominal) for direct connection to powered speakers or an amplifier’s auxiliary input. In PHONO position, the preamp is bypassed (2.5 mV nominal) so you can use a higher-quality external phono stage or the dedicated phono input of a hi-fi amplifier.

The external power adapter provides AC/DC conversion away from the chassis, thereby limiting electromagnetic interference that could contaminate the audio signal. The turntable has no power switch: it enters standby as soon as no record is spinning and reactivates when the Start button is pressed.

Lightweight construction and anti-resonant platter

The plastic chassis keeps the total weight down to 2.6 kg, which makes it easy to move but gives a less solid feel than turntables with wooden or metal plinths. Grippy feet offset this lightness by effectively stabilizing the unit on most surfaces. The compact dimensions (about 36 × 37 × 10 cm) make it easy to fit into tight spaces.

The die-cast aluminum platter combined with an anti-resonance mat reduces vibrations transmitted to the record during playback. The belt drive, a common solution at this price point, mechanically isolates the platter from the servo-controlled motor. Speed variations remain below 0.25% (DIN weighted).

Dual Moving Magnet cartridge and replaceable diamond stylus

Audio-Technica equips this turntable with a Dual Moving Magnet cartridge integrated into the headshell. This design simplifies setup: no tracking force, anti-skate, or alignment adjustments are required. The conical ATN3600LC diamond stylus is easy to replace when worn. For improved playback, an elliptical ATN3600LE stylus is also available as an option; its finer geometry extracts more detail from the grooves.

The tonearm and its base have been redesigned compared to previous generations to improve tracking and reduce resonances. However, the molded counterweight does not allow adjustment: the system is optimized to work only with the original cartridge. This limitation rules out any upgrade to a higher-performance cartridge, a compromise inherent to the device’s plug-and-play philosophy.
