HumminGuru EZ Washer: the manual record cleaning machine
After democratizing ultrasonic vinyl cleaning with its HG01 and NOVA models, Hong Kong brand HumminGuru is offering a different approach with the EZ Washer. This manual machine relies on a patented clamp system that changes the way a record is handled during cleaning. Gone are the twisting motions of traditional manual machines: here, everything is done through vertical pressure and controlled rotation via a dedicated handle.
A clamp that rethinks record handling
At the heart of the EZ Washer is its patented clamp with an integrated handle. The principle: place the record’s center hole on the spindle, press down vertically until it clicks, then lock the whole assembly onto the machine body via a sliding latch. This sequence eliminates awkward handling where you risk touching the playing surface or warping the record.
The inside of the clamp is lined with a soft rubber ring that creates a watertight seal around the center label. Throughout the entire cleaning process, the label stays dry. A flexible mechanism allows the clamp to adapt to vinyl records from 1 to 3 mm thick, covering nearly all pressings, from standard singles to thick 180- or 200-gram audiophile editions.
One-handed rotation, dry hands
The handle located at the top of the clamp allows you to rotate the record in the cleaning bath without ever touching it directly. Four turns of the handle correspond to one full rotation of the vinyl in the water. HumminGuru recommends twelve turns clockwise, then twelve turns counterclockwise.
This design prevents fingerprints and accidental slips. You hold the machine body with one hand, operate the handle with the other, and your hands stay dry throughout the process.
Goat hair brushes and alcohol-free fluid
The two supplied brushes use goat hair, a natural material known for its softness. These brushes glide through the grooves without generating static electricity or risking scratches on the surface. They are removable and replaceable.
The EZ cleaning fluid, supplied in a 300 ml bottle, is an eco-friendly alcohol-free formula. Two capfuls in the 950 ml tank are enough to create the cleaning solution. One full fill allows you to treat between ten and twenty records depending on their condition, and one bottle covers approximately 300 to 600 cleanings.
Integrated draining, drying, and storage
The tank features two drainage outlets with an optimized angle for emptying the water without splashing. The included drying rack can hold up to eight records and stores directly underneath the machine without disassembly. A lid protects the tank from dust between sessions.
The whole unit has compact dimensions (361 × 143 × 243 mm) and a curved-line design, more refined than the usual utilitarian tanks. HumminGuru clearly wanted to offer an object that does not look out of place next to a well-kept turntable.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you use a cleaning fluid other than the one supplied by HumminGuru?
The EZ Washer fluid is formulated to work with the goat hair brushes and not leave residue. Other vinyl-compatible, alcohol-free solutions may theoretically work, but HumminGuru recommends its own fluid to guarantee results. Some users mix distilled water with a few drops of surfactant, but that remains at their own risk.
Do you need to use distilled water?
HumminGuru recommends filling the tank with distilled water up to the MAX line (950 ml) before adding the two capfuls of EZ fluid. Distilled water prevents mineral deposits that could end up on the vinyl after drying.
How do you know when to replace the brushes?
The brushes should be replaced when the bristles start to flatten, spread apart, or lose their flexibility. A regular visual inspection is enough. Replacement brushes are available separately.
Can the EZ Washer clean very dirty or moldy records?
For heavily soiled records, with mold or long-ingrained residue, a manual machine reaches its limits. The EZ Washer effectively removes dust, fingerprints, and surface grease, but ultrasonic cleaning will be better suited to difficult cases.
Does the drying rack need to be disassembled for storage?
No, the rack slides directly under the machine without any special handling. It can remain in place permanently.
