Loewe Antares
Overview
The antares TV already features speakers concealed within its chassis, but their range remains limited by the screen’s slimness. To gain body and clarity without stacking boxes, Loewe offers a stereo soundbar that attaches directly beneath the panel. No built-in amplifier, no extra remote control: the electronics remain in the TV, and the soundbar reproduces the signal it receives.
A passive soundbar controlled by the TV
Most soundbars include their own amplification and decoding. This one works differently: it contains neither an amplifier nor a processor. The antares TV amplifies the signal and decodes the audio tracks, including volume adjustment. The soundbar consists solely of its speakers and enclosure.
This choice has practical consequences. Sound is controlled from the TV remote and menus, with no pairing or input switching. No HDMI cable to deal with, no lip-sync to correct, since the signal does not pass through any external connection. In return, the soundbar depends entirely on the antares TV: it cannot be connected to another screen or used as a standalone speaker.
Fourteen drivers in a sealed enclosure
Behind the acoustic fabric, the soundbar houses fourteen drivers. Two 25 mm tweeters handle the highs, four 64 × 33 mm midrange drivers cover voices and lower midrange frequencies, and eight 70 × 42 mm passive radiators extend the bass.
A passive radiator has no motor: it is not powered, but moved by the air pressure generated by the midrange drivers inside the sealed enclosure. These radiators perform the role that a bass-reflex port would serve elsewhere, without turbulence or port noise, which suits such a slim format. Frequency response extends down to 60 Hz (at ± 3 dB) for a soundbar just 4.4 cm thick and weighing 1.5 kg. The deepest bass, from explosions and cinematic bass layers, nevertheless requires dedicated reinforcement.
Installation with no visible cable
Connection relies on a proprietary stereo connector, the Cube Plug. The soundbar attaches beneath the antares TV and connects through this single contact point, with no visible cable running along the screen. Its acoustic fabric finish matches the back of the TV, making the whole appear as a single unit rather than two devices placed side by side.
As it attaches to the screen, the soundbar then follows the installation method selected for the TV: floor stand, Universal or Slim 432 wall mount, floor2ceiling column, or Floor Stand Flex. Installation itself takes just a few seconds and requires no technical skills.
Front-facing sound and supported audio formats
The speakers face forward, toward the listener. On a flat soundbar positioned beneath the screen, this direct orientation primarily improves voice intelligibility, often the weak point of speakers built into slim TVs. Rated power reaches 2 × 20 W RMS, or 2 × 40 W music power, around twice that of the speakers integrated into the TV. The design is intended for close-range living-room listening, not for filling a large space.
In terms of formats, the soundbar remains a 2.0 stereo model: it has neither a separate center channel nor ceiling-facing speakers. The antares TV decodes Dolby tracks (Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Atmos, Dolby Atmos Music) and DTS tracks (DTS-HD, DTS:X), then downmixes them to the soundbar’s two channels. You therefore benefit from the decoding and mixing of these formats, but not from physical height channels: sound remains projected from the front, without true vertical spatialization. For immersive multi-channel playback, the TV can also serve as the center speaker in a Loewe multichannel setup.
The klang sub1 subwoofer for bass
The soundbar stops at 60 Hz: below that, it cannot reproduce the sub-bass that underpins movie soundtracks. Loewe provides a wireless subwoofer for this purpose, the klang sub1. It connects to the system without a cable running to the soundbar, handles the lower end of the spectrum, and lets the midrange drivers and passive radiators focus on their own range. The soundbar alone is well suited to everyday TV viewing and background music; with the subwoofer, movie bass gains the weight it was missing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the Antares soundbar be installed on a TV from another brand?
No. The Cube Plug connector is proprietary and, above all, it is the antares television that amplifies and decodes the sound. Without this upstream electronics, the soundbar has neither source nor power: it only works with a television from the antares range.
Does the soundbar need to be plugged into a power outlet?
No. It is passive and has no separate power supply. Signal and power are delivered through the Cube Plug connector alone, from the television. No mains cable or power adapter is required on its side.
Does it include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or streaming apps?
No, these functions remain the responsibility of the antares TV. Network playback, AirPlay, apps and wireless pairing are handled by the TV; the soundbar simply plays what it sends to it.
Is the klang sub1 subwoofer included with the soundbar?
No, it is a separate accessory. The bar covers the spectrum down to 60 Hz; the klang sub1 can be added when you want to reinforce the deepest bass, especially for movies.
Does the same bar fit different Antares TV sizes?
Yes. A single 92.2 cm-wide model is available as an accessory for 42-, 48-, 55-, and 65-inch antares TVs. On the larger screen sizes, it occupies a central portion beneath the screen rather than its full width; on the 42-inch model, whose chassis measures 94.3 cm, it spans almost the entire width.
How do I add immersive sound or surround effects to the Antares?
The soundbar remains a front stereo system. For multichannel sound, the antares ecosystem offers the wireless We. BOOST surround system, and the TV itself can serve as the centre channel in a Loewe home cinema setup.
