Loewe Antares 48
Overview
Made in Kronach, Germany, this 48-inch OLED television rejects the standardization of screens that all look alike. Loewe calibrates each panel individually before it leaves the factory, then leaves the rest to your taste: interchangeable aluminum inserts, swivel stand, wall mounts or a floor-to-ceiling column. A screen that adjusts as much as it is watched.
An OLED panel calibrated in Kronach
OLED has one advantage that other display technologies struggle to match: each pixel produces its own light and switches off completely to display black. On the Antares 48, this delivers blacks without halo, very wide contrast and colors that remain stable over a wide viewing angle, specified at 120°. Loewe takes the concept further by individually calibrating each panel at its Kronach factory, an adjustment performed before shipping so that the image is accurate from the very first switch-on.
HDR compatibility covers the four formats that matter today: Dolby Vision IQ, which adapts the image to the room’s ambient light, followed by HDR10+, HDR10 and HLG. 4K Ultra HD resolution (3840 × 2160 pixels) remains the standard at this screen size, with comfortable pixel density at living-room viewing distance. In terms of brightness, the panel targets around 800 cd/m² peak (typical value measured in HDR over 10% of the screen), a level well suited to a room with controlled lighting. The 55- and 65-inch models in the range go higher, a difference to keep in mind if the room is very bright.
A screen that adapts to your room
This is where the Antares 48 stands out most. Its horizontal silhouette evokes a large-format monitor rather than a conventional television, and Loewe has designed it to be customized. The edges feature aluminum inserts (silver and black supplied as standard, other shades optional) that can be replaced without tools. At the rear, fabric covers and concealed cable routing keep the overall look clean, even when viewed from the side or from an angled sofa.
Installation follows the same modular approach. The tabletop stand swivels, offers three heights and incorporates cable management. The catalog extends to wall mounts, floor stands including some motorized versions, and a column that mounts from floor to ceiling. The modular design also aims for longevity: components can be removed for maintenance and upgrades, an approach consistent with assembly carried out in Germany.
Evolve the sound to suit your needs
The integrated sound system is called “invisible sound”: two 20 W music power channels housed in the chassis, with no visible grille. Decoding supports Dolby Atmos and DTS-HD, with processing that simulates three-dimensional sound placement. For everyday use, television, news and series, this foundation is sufficient. For cinema, power remains modest and would benefit from expansion.
Loewe has provided several ways to do so. The optional antares soundbar, twice as powerful, attaches beneath the screen. An HDMI eARC port connects an existing home theater system. And a dedicated input allows the Antares 48 to serve as a center speaker in a multichannel setup: the television then reproduces dialogue at the center of the soundstage while the other speakers handle the rest.
Loewe os9 for everyday use
The interface is based on Loewe os9, an overlay built on the VIDAA platform. The main apps are available: Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, Apple TV+, YouTube and Spotify, with smooth navigation thanks to AI-assisted image processing. The Loewe Remote VI connects via Bluetooth and handles voice control, convenient for starting a search without using an on-screen keyboard.
For the connected home, the Antares 48 supports Apple AirPlay and Miracast for streaming from a smartphone or computer, while Matter compatibility integrates it into a modern home automation ecosystem.
Record without missing a channel
The dual-channel system is based on a dual triple DVB-T2, cable and satellite tuner. In practice, you can record one channel to USB storage while watching another. The Timeshift function pauses live TV for playback later, and a CI+ 1.4 slot accepts a conditional access module for encrypted packages.
Video gaming and HDMI 2.1 connectivity
The television has four HDMI inputs, including two with the full HDMI 2.1 standard for gaming. These two ports support 4K up to 144 Hz, VRR that synchronizes the display with the frame rate of the console or PC, and ALLM that automatically switches to low-latency mode as soon as a game starts. OLED adds a stated 1 ms response time, useful in fast-paced scenes.
The remaining connectivity covers everyday needs: two USB-A ports and two USB-C ports, Wi-Fi and Ethernet, Bluetooth, an optical output and a headphone output. The eARC port, available on one of the HDMI inputs, sends sound to a soundbar or home theater amplifier without loss of quality.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the 48-inch model suitable for a small room?
Among the screen sizes in the Antares range, the 48-inch model is one of the most compact. Its 121 cm size and height-adjustable stand fit easily into a bedroom, office, or modestly sized living room, where a 55- or 65-inch model would require more viewing distance.
How far away should you watch a 48-inch TV?
In 4K, a viewing distance of approximately 1.8 to 2.5 metres is well suited to a 48-inch (121 cm) diagonal. At this distance, the eye benefits from the resolution without perceiving the pixel structure, and the format remains comfortable in a bedroom or medium-sized living room.
Is the Antares soundbar essential?
No. The built-in “invisible sound” is sufficient for television, news and series. The optional bar, twice as powerful, really comes into its own for films and gaming, when you want more depth in the bass and effects. An HDMI eARC-connected home cinema system remains another option.
Which aluminum inserts are included as standard?
Silver and black versions are available with the TV. Other colors and fabric rear covers are available as options, allowing you to match the screen to the room or change its look later.
What wall mount is needed to install it?
The VESA mounting pattern is 300 × 200 mm. Without the stand, the TV weighs 12.3 kg, a weight that most standard wall mounts can support without difficulty. Loewe also offers its own mounts, including swivel models.
Can the Antares 48 be used as a center speaker?
Yes. A dedicated input allows it to serve this role in a multichannel setup. The television then reproduces dialogue, while separate speakers handle the front and surround channels. This is a way to integrate the screen into a home theater system without leaving it silent in the middle of the sound setup.
