For connecting a CD player, streamer or television to a converter via S/PDIF, the Digi-Coupler is Van den Hul’s most advanced coaxial digital cable. It all comes down to its 75 Ω impedance, maintained within ± 0.5 Ω up to 3 GHz. A cable that deviates from this value reflects part of the signal back towards the source, and these reflections disrupt the regularity of the data stream (jitter) even before conversion.

Its triaxial construction adds a second, separately insulated shield to the conventional coaxial design. The cable features three dense silver-plated copper braids, three foil shields and a carbon-loaded outer layer (Linear Structured Carbon). Radio-frequency and electromagnetic interference are thus kept at bay, even over long runs. The core is a single strand of Matched Crystal OFC copper, insulated with foamed polyethylene. It is protected by an 8.2 mm halogen-free Hulliflex jacket.

The Digi-Coupler is available with gold-plated RCA or BNC plugs, in lengths from 0.6 to 1.5 m. The cable is fairly stiff: to keep its impedance stable, it must not be bent to a radius of less than 8 cm. Allow a little space behind the cabinet.
