Audiolab is a British brand of high-end audio equipment founded in 1983 by Philip Swift and Derek Scotland, two graduates of Imperial College London. Their project was born out of a shared frustration with the high cost and complexity of hi-fi equipment available at the time. Learn more
The brand’s first product, the 8000A integrated amplifier, quickly achieved resounding success and established itself as a benchmark in the British audio industry of the 1980s. This iconic model is still considered today as one of the best British amplifiers ever produced.
Over the years, Audiolab has expanded its range with preamplifiers, power amplifiers, CD players, radio tuners, and digital-to-analog converters. The brand’s history has seen several major milestones: in 1997, it was acquired by TAG McLaren and renamed TAG McLaren Audio, then in 2004, it joined the International Audio Group (IAG) and regained its original name.
Since then, Audiolab has continued to innovate with several notable product series: the 8200 series in 2010, the 8300 series in 2015, the more affordable 6000 series in 2017, and more recently the 9000 series, considered the pinnacle of the brand’s innovation. The 9000N, their latest high-end streamer, has been particularly acclaimed by critics.
True to its original philosophy, Audiolab continues to offer audio equipment combining exceptional sound quality, meticulous design, and reasonable prices, which has allowed it to maintain its reputation for excellence for over 40 years in the audio industry.
