Listening to a vinyl record is a very special experience, with a little something extra that a digital system can’t quite reproduce. However, not all hi-fi amplifiers are capable of directly connecting a turntable. You need to connect a phono preamplifier so that the weak signal transmitted by the turntable is powerful enough for your main amplifier. It is extremely easy to add noise during this step, which is why Cambridge Audio designed the CP2 using premium components and materials, chosen for their exceptional qualities to amplify the signal without compromising it. The CP2 works with any type of cartridge, whether it’s with popular turntables using MM cartridges or higher-end turntables with MC cartridges. The latter inherently offers more precision and detail than MM cartridges. Although some amplifiers already have a phono input, we highly recommend using an external stage. You will appreciate the benefits of a dedicated stage in terms of depth and detail.
