Lyra Atlas STEREO lambda

LYRA’s new high-end model.

For the first time, a phono cartridge features an asymmetrical structure. This design allows it to overcome the barriers to “great sound” found in current phono cartridges.

Reduced resonance and vibration

The differently shaped structure on the left and right sides reduces resonance in the cartridge body (neutrality) and the dimensions of the moving assembly, thereby decreasing the influence of parasitic vibrations during playback (silent reading). The reduction of these vibrations is also achieved through the efficient mounting of the cantilever directly into the cartridge body (a LYRA exclusive), which allows for a completely rigid assembly of the cantilever and the cartridge shell. The use of a narrow mounting area contributes to the excellent coupling of the ATLAS with the shell, facilitating the transfer of vibrational energy to the tonearm (transparency, speed).

Optimized reading capabilities

While the ATLAS retains the dual magnet system, the diamond-coated boron cantilever, and the variable radius “line-contact” stylus of the Titan, the moving assembly is completely new. The coils are no longer arranged in a classic square but in an X shape: each channel operates with greater independence from the other. This results in improved groove reading capability, virtually identical output levels on each channel, enhanced separation, and lower distortion due to crosstalk.

High efficiency

At the same time, LYRA has been able to increase the performance and efficiency of the generator coils. The ATLAS has a 12% higher output voltage compared to the Titan, while reducing the amount of wire in the coils by 22%. The reduction in mass improves reading capabilities, while the increase in output level and improved electrical characteristics allow for better results from phono inputs.

Original and high-performance construction

Of course, the ATLAS uses LYRA’s “Vinyl from a different angle” technology, which mechanically pre-disposes the signal coils to naturally orient themselves during playback to achieve perfect alignment with the magnetic circuit. Equalized compliances in the vertical and horizontal planes ensure that the ATLAS’s moving assembly has identical freedom in all directions for optimal stereo performance. As with the Titan and Olympos, the ATLAS uses a body meticulously machined from a solid billet of titanium. Most of the surfaces of the ATLAS body are non-parallel, also avoiding multiple dimensions of other dimensions to inhibit any resonance, in combination with a specially developed manufacturing process.
