The Anthem MRX 740 8K is an 8K home theater receiver equipped with a 7-channel amplifier delivering a generous 140 W per channel (8 ohms, 1 kHz, 2 channels driven). This power reserve allows it to efficiently drive most speakers, even models known to be demanding. The unit can accurately render the widest dynamic swings, delivering a rich, immersive sound experience.
The oversized toroidal transformer and high current capacity ensure stable, consistent power to all channels, even during the most demanding passages. This robust design enables the MRX 740 8K to maintain optimal performance, whether for music or the explosive sound effects of action movies.
Comprehensive connectivity to meet every need
The MRX 740 8K makes no compromises when it comes to connectivity. Its HDMI section includes seven inputs and three outputs, all compatible with the HDMI 2.1 standard and HDCP 2.3 copy protection. This configuration ensures full compatibility with the latest video sources, including next-generation gaming consoles.
The amplifier supports 8K video at up to 60 frames per second and 4K at up to 120 frames per second, as well as 4:4:4 chroma subsampling. HDR10+ and Dolby Vision are also integrated, ensuring wide dynamic range and enhanced detail in both dark and bright areas of the image.
For gamers, the MRX 740 8K is compatible with VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) and ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode), optimizing image smoothness and responsiveness. The main HDMI output also features eARC, enabling high-quality bidirectional audio transmission between the amplifier and the TV.
Advanced audio processing for exceptional sound quality
The Anthem MRX 740 8K excels in audio processing, supporting a wide range of multichannel audio formats. It can decode up to 11.2 channels, including Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and DTS:X Pro. This extensive compatibility lets you fully enjoy the most sophisticated soundtracks, creating a three-dimensional sound bubble around the listener.
Anthem’s ARC Genesis acoustic calibration system is one of this amplifier’s standout features. This advanced technology analyzes the room’s acoustics and automatically adjusts audio parameters to optimize performance based on the listening environment. The result is precise, balanced sound perfectly tailored to your space.
A sophisticated user interface for total control
While the unit’s menus are known to be dense and technical, they offer an unparalleled level of control and customization. Full parameter access is available directly from the large front display and physical controls, providing welcome flexibility for advanced users.
To simplify daily use, Anthem also offers a mobile app (iOS and Android) for quick access to key settings. This intuitive interface streamlines source management, volume control, and listening mode selection, making the MRX 740 8K easy for the whole family to use.
Faithful, controlled sound reproduction
In listening tests, the Anthem MRX 740 8K stands out for its neutrality and precision. It delivers exceptionally clean, accurate sound with excellent control in the lower registers. The soundstage is firmly anchored, offering a stable stereo image and convincing multichannel spatialization.
The amplifier is remarkably comfortable even at high volume levels. Its impressive dynamics and ability to faithfully reproduce the subtlest nuances make it a top choice for demanding audiophiles and movie lovers seeking powerful emotions.
